Snatching at Thepprasit Market

Dongtan police were informed through the radio that a snatching occurred at Thepprasit Weekend Market at 9.00pm on 18th March.

The thief is a Thai male who was seen running to the back of the market. However, a few vendors had already followed and later detained him. The police quickly rushed to the scene after being informed.

In front of the market the police found the victim; Mr. Trinkarn, aged 25 who stated that he and his girlfriend are vendors at the market. On that day, his girlfriend left the bag behind their seats and when they were not looking; a fellow vendor yelled that someone had grabbed the bag!

The police caught up with the vendors and the crook and found the bag on the side of the road. All were requested to go to Dongtan sub-station for questioning.

At the station, the victims were unable to point out if the suspected man Mr. Khanchit was the person who snatched the bag or not, as they didn’t see the person clearly.

As for Mr. Khanchit, he denied all charges. He stated that he went to the market with his girlfriend to shop. When he saw a lot of people running towards him; he quickly ran away because he thought that they were his enemies.

With no evidence, the police had to let Mr. Khanchit go, and recorded his data in case there will be any evidence to identify him as the snatcher afterwards.
