Climate change in the Isaan?

2014, 2015, 2016 were consecutive global high temperature records. Very high probability that this was caused by man. https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/2017GL074056

So funny.  What is your definition of “record”.  How far back does the data set go? How much higher from one year to another? 0.003 of one degree? That would be well within error bars and well within the normal range of variability.

But the BIG news is, your “study” is by totally disgraced Michael E. “Hockey Schtick” Mann.

    A proven liar and fraud.

See what happens when you keep your data sets short, and avoid looking into the past.

By looking only back to 1970....or even 1880.....you can make recent little warming look SCARY!

And that’s what you want in order to help push forward your politico-economic agenda.

Please, don't start posting facts! you will ruin peoples day who's lives revolve around the ridiculous notion of short term climate change!

More facts posted below, again people will choose to ignore! some "scientists" will cherry pick the years that they base their results on which will be published in the media, the media is off course controlled by the "elites" the more they are able to focus peoples attention away from the growing social divide, yes - they are getting richer & the poor - yes - poorer, but better not to focus on this! be scared people!!!!!!!

Agree comment about rich/poor divide. I think it's trite to posit that the elite (agree they do exist) are actively promoting climate change to divert people's attention. Why on earth would they think that people could have their attention diverted away from their grinding poverty by having another problem like flooding to think about? It amplifies their likely woes/resistance (and ultimate likelihood of revolution!); does not distract ...IMO

Seems the deniers have already forgotten that both the UK and Parts of Europe broke highest temperature records in July ….. and I was in the UK in June and only remember one cold day (when it was raining). A lot of their denial sources are also quite old.

Ask Greenlanders about Global warming. They do not need a thermometer to see it is happening. Or go to the Bahamas, where Hurricane Dorian also set new wind speed records. Deniers can scream all they want about manipulated temperature data (some would call them corrections), but the climate IS changing - more extreme events, and generally higher temperatures.

Here in Isaan we have seen changes recently. In the winter, no more cold weather (last winter, my thermometer never went under 20 degrees centigrade), and the wet season is very unpredictable (some months practically no rain, next month floods). Before 2017, never saw our ponds full until September, now flooded by July or August. And the last 3 years, rain stopped early too - none to speak of after middle of September.

Not EVERYWHERE is getting warmer - that is why it is global warming, on average the world is warmer. And we now are experiencing temperatures probably above those seen in the Roman warm period etc.

Warmer weather may be better for North America, Most of Europe and North Asia. But was it better for the tropical regions? Very little data on that.

Was afraid of that. As expected, the thread turned into a battle-ground of yes/no climatologists. (Mainly).

While all I asked was: Do old Thai-Folks in the Isaan notice anything different compared as to when they were young?

Plenty of Farangs residing in the Isaan with Thai grandparents around. Don't be shy: Just ask them.

Thanks for contributors that have supplied information with regard of the meaning of the thread.

My memory is good, just not tunnel vision like yours. Unfortunately you are looking at only 13 days data, on a denier website. The mean temp for June 2019 (the whole month) for the Central England temperature record was 14.2 degrees centigrade, which makes it only the 172nd coldest June on record …...

Find it here -

And if you forgot about the hot days, here's a link (hadcet too hard to extract)

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-48810170

The Met Office said Heathrow and Northolt in west London had reached 34C (93.2F) making it one of the warmest June days for about 40 years.
