Buddhist Lent is more than giving up drinking. Prayut should also refrain from bad actions and inappropriate life which will be hard for this corrupt government,

How many people will refrain from drinking just because this muppet tells them so? Deciding how much alcohol to drink is one of precious few personal freedoms Thais still have under his rule.

Some mark the Buddhist Lent (not just the end of it) by not imbibing anyway, without his inane prodding, others won't.

This is his solution to the daily road kill?  Why not just create a police force?

That linked to driving schools would be far more beneficial...

Hypocracy wears many faces and consumes many beverages. This one is no different after the metamorphasis to a civilian "leader".

they get motivated.

They are motivated by money - only.  There is no discipline; they are often guilty of crooked dealings but never face the music.  These are the role models that Thai youngsters face.  They learn in the school of Hard Knocks how to cheat the police who are cheating them.  The vicious cycle goes on and on.

No such thing as Buddhist Lent.

If the author of the article had written (in the Thai Vernacular) Vassa, most none Buddhists and none Thais would not know what he was talking about.

So better to use the commonly used analogous, albeit incorrect phrase 'Buddhist Lent' instead. At least folks have some idea what he's talking about.

Ok, we accept, there's always going to be at least one smart ass isn't there. ????
