Pattaya eyes becoming economic hub of EEC

PATTAYA (NNT) - Pattaya City aims to develop its bayside location into a new economic hub, changing the direction of its management to support the Eastern Economic Corridor, along with tourism, and investment.

 

The Mayor of Pattaya Sontaya Kunplome has revealed that the city administration has adjusted the city’s development goal to comply with the growth of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), by reducing administrative obstacles and adapting development models from cities in foreign countries, to accommodate expected population growth of three million, three times more tourists, and 1.7 trillion baht in initial investment.

 

He said according to the Board of Investment of Thailand’s (BOI) report, there are currently about 800 billion baht’s worth of investment promotion requests in the EEC, covering three provinces of the eastern region, with 650 billion baht alone marked for investment in Chonburi province. Chonburi province and Pattaya city share 1 trillion baht GDP, the second highest in the country, and generate more than 200 billion baht in tourism revenue, making Pattaya city and Chonburi province attractive to investors.

 

The mayor said EEC investment and development will change the city’s economic structure, from the current 80% dependency on tourism, to support from a more varied group of business categories. Meanwhile, the city has commenced many infrastructure development projects to complement the expected changes, such as cooperation with the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning on flood prevention; the installation of a large-scale waste water treatment system with a capacity of 130,000 cubic meters; cooperation with the Ministry of a Digital Economy and Society on a 5G mobile network installation along Pattaya beach; the installation of an information technology system for city services; cooperation with the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) to position the city as a destination for international conferences and exhibitions covering infrastructure development, marketing, and human resources development, as well as cooperation with the Marine Department to expand Pattaya and Jomtien beaches to promote tourism.

 

TCEB’s Executive Director Jirut Itsarangkul Na Ayuthaya, said today that Pattaya City is recognised as a quality tourism city, and a hub of tourism activities in the EEC in the future.

 

He said the bureau will attract more international events to take place in Pattaya, such as the Air Show event coordinated by TCEB, which is now planned to take place at U-Tapao airport as the main venue, helping promote Thailand’s ambition to become the latest and largest aircraft maintenance and logistics hub in ASEAN.

So all the previous ambitions have been put to one side to pursue this one. Maybe they will just keep the dubious acclaim they obtained without any effort whatsoever.... guesses on a postcard..... 

Wait until they get down to the nitty gritty and have to do some real work ... instead of just talking about it. Suddenly it will all go quiet and be forgotten. 

The EEC is still a dream in the mind of Prayut. The government is out there frantically roaming the globe to try and find anyone stupid enough to invest there. 

Potential investors are sitting back watching the government screwing over previous investors like Hopewell and Kingsgate while at the same time they can see political instability build from the maniacal outbursts of General Apirat.

And Prayut sits back embraced in his own timidity, too frightened to speak out against those who are destroying his dream.

YES..a big dream with theaters and cultural,robotic and industrial 4,0........ but still the motorway in Najomtien closed since 3 years, and the cultural is still based on somtam

 

 

Kingagste is not sitting back, they forced..but, court rulling against Thailand ( prayut) is expected for 10.11.19 on hongkong inter court.  Game over - they get the court case financed already ,the court sue thailand for sure , i hope no deal would be made before the court ruling is done . The fatal and suspcious take over bis for 90% less than KCN shareprice by a suspicous thaicompany registerd in the caymans, related to the goverment in 2018 , from  NGPI ( northern gulf petro international) owned by suspcious thai(corrupt)buissenes man, who promised if he get 50,1 % of shares , claimed ,he could reopen mine within 3 month due to his relation to goverment ( prayut)

Maybe a bit small for a city the size of Pattaya ???? 

130000 cubic meters = 130000000 liters /200 = 650,000 poeple

also why one big plant  and not a few smaller ones  + get the one they already have on Soi "Wat Boon" working again.

Figures from the Irish Environmental Protection Agency are available for all the above locations.  For example 1 guest in a hotel is expected to product 250 l of flow & 75 g of BOD.  So for a small hotel with up to 50 guests the design of a sewage treatment plant would be based on:

50 x 250 l = 12500 l of flow & 50 x 75 g= 3750 g of BOD.  The total daily figures then need to be converted to the equivalent PE figures by dividing the flow by 200 l (flow for 1 PE) and the BOD by 60 g (BOD for 1 PE)

12500 l / 200 l = 62.5 PE & 3750 g / 60 g = 62.5 PE.

There's a hard hitting letter today in BKK Post Postbag by Mad Mango.  It is about Pattaya likening itself to Miami.   The letter ends with a reference to the mayor and who his father was.  Frankly I am surprised it got published in The Land of Litigation.

Pattaya already has lots of "pie", but it's not in the "sky".

 

Should this pipe-dream HUB become reality, said "pie" will be very busy once again.

Families back home in Issan will be smiling.

Prayut will take the credit, all made possible because of his EEC.

A combination of several things will see Thailand / Pattaya finally arrive at the destination that it has been heading in for the last several years. 

 

The next 6 to 12 months will be telling, hub, or no hub.

Its that simple build a convention center and claim that Pattaya is the EEC corridor hub for MICE visitors.

 

Economic hub... quite a laugh considering how it looked today, knee deep in water!

I find travelling down to Chanthaburi , Trat and on to the border quite a relaxing experience , no bars , massage parlours or

other so called Pattaya attractions . 

Nice places to stay , the food tastes different and you can sleep at night . !

I hope this EEC business goes the way of all the other pipe dreams . !
