Mayor Mai caught on CCTV slapping Wat Boon treasurer’s face

 

PATTAYA:--Nongprue Mayor Mai Chaiyanit was caught on CCTV footage slapping the face of Wat Boonsamphan treasurer, Wanchai Sanngam, who in turn was found to be using temple funds for personal gain by exploiting Chinese tour groups.

 

As Pattaya Mail online reported Saturday, Nongprue residents who worship at Wat Boonsamphan complained to authorities that they were no longer able to park at the temple, as temple employees were aggressively kicking them out in order to collect fees from the Chinese tour buses bringing in loads of donating- and trinket-buying Chinese tourists.

 

Worshippers also complained that the money being taken in had no oversight and some believed the money being collected wasn’t being handled properly, leading to doubts of non-transparency.

Turns out, they might have been right.

 

When Chinese tourists arrived, Wanchai and his people “looking like gods” allegedly told the tourists that they would have bad luck, but could be helped by performing a ceremony after donating 10,000-100,000 baht and buying fake holy objects.

I wonder if the words went something like " You tell me not make profit! Where is my CUT, Slap." Never leave me out of the cash disytibution again, understand!".

 

Or I could just be getting cynical and may be wrong this time, but the odds are in my favor.

After the Chinese tourists donate 10,000-100,000 baht and buy fake holy objects, they can then get on a ferry, later. When the ferry goes down. There will be a gold mine below. Just ask the guy swimming in the water collecting the money from Loy Krathong

Ah, didn't know the wats were already in on the fleece-a-chinaman business. No surprise, just expanding their customer base.

Simply stop the tours. A source of criminal action and greed, not what the temples were built for. 

Take them to Koh Larn, directly from Pattaya Beach. 

Wats are merely money-making enterprises; you pay a soothsayer to find an auspicious date for moving into your new house; you pay nine of these to have a feast and a sing-song to ward off spirits; you pay a tattooed youth in orange to bless your new car; you pay a car-park attendant to watch your car whilst you wander round Walking Street.  Jesus would scourge them clean.
