You could have applied for a re-entry permit at Suan Plu before you left thus getting the remaining days on your current Tourist Visa but. .. You did not.

Can someone tell me how this works and what the charge is?

Thank You

I notice visarunner now supports what I posted earlier that it is possible to change a visa exempt stamp to a full tourist visa in Bangkok. Link to post

Would you please provide the quote? I find nothing in that post to suggests any such thing.

Sure, you must click on the link I provided.

You can convert the 30day visa exempt stamp to a Non-Immigrant Visa by going to the Immigration Department with the proper documents and 21 day stay remaining, meaning you have up to 9 days time after your entry. Application fee THB 2,000.- .

Please note that your Passport need to be valid for at least another 6 month for any Visa application.

I would not be asking if I had not done so. The message from visarunner mentions change of 30 day entry stamp to non immigrant visa for extension of stay but see nothing about change to a tourist visa - that is why I am asking you for the quote. Thanks.

this is a real life example. all on visa on arrivals.

arrive bkk oct 4 2006 depart bkk oct31 2006. 28 days.

arrive bkk dec8 2006 depart bkk jan16 2007. i did one visa run here. 40 days.

arrive bkk jan18 2007 depart bkk jan30 2007. 13 days.

arrive bkk mar28 2007 depart bkk apr 5 2007. 9 days.

IF I ARRIVE BACK IN BANGKOK ON APRIL 10 2007. HOW MANY DAYS VISA ON ARRIVAL AM I ENTITLED TO???????????

please answer people as i am having trouble understanding this 90 out of 180. or 3 months out of 180 days thing.

i will give the answer to this real life situation after i get a few answers.......lol. the days i got and the days i thought i would get was not even close.

The visa on arrival invariably allows the tourist to stay 15 days but I believe you are talking about visa-exempt entries.

No uniform implementation of the rule for visa-exempt entries is in place and your are right: it is a guessing game. My guess is that when you entered on 10 APR 2007 you were admitted until 09 MAY 2007. This would be in accordance with the pattern we see emerging from recent posts.

well blizzard please give us the update. unfortunately the cumulative knowledge from these case studies is all we have to go on. i also think it's important to distinguish between "visa on arrival" and "visa exempt entry". the subject is confusing enough without misplacing the terms. it would seem as if you entered a fresh 6 month period and should have been entitled to 30 days. but i'm guessing that's not what you got? different officers seem to have varying interpretations of these rules. the whole debacle creates a lot of uncertainty. i don't care what that T.A.T. says, it's affecting tourism arrivals.

i think maestro is correct my example was using visa exempt entries.

THE LOVELY VERY NICE IMMIGRATION OFFICER GAVE ME 2 FREAKIN DAYS. i unlike some others who know important thai people or who can speak thai just said ok and told her to use my TOURIST VISA(60 DAYS ALLOWED) which i went to vietnam to get. i foolishly thought i would get a whole 30 days and could save my tourist visa for my next trip.

the only explanation i could come up with is this lady used a rolling period not a fixed one. and even if she used a rolling period i still dont know how she came up with 2 days.

blizzard if your 1st entry was on oct 4th your 6 month period should have ended april 3rd? but you say you exited april 5th? and that one time you counted as 40 days but you made a visa run in the interim? when you enter/exit on the same day adds some confusion also? it's been suggested before to have dates of entry and periods of stay written down as an aid for these immigration officers who are getting tired eyes. they may never have software on their computers for calculating this. 30 days at a pop those are visa exempt entries. visa on arrivals are only 15 days. the saga continues.
