I've got some lower back pain from a disc bulge when i sit for a long time (which i do often)...i've got a timer now to make me get up and stretch and move around some... I've got a really nice grey computer chair, but i was thinking of getting one of those knee supported computer chairs....anyone got one that could share some experience? do they really help?

I need a hip replacement soon and only way I can sit is semi reclined in a reclining lazy boy style chair. PC screen is a 55 Inch tv on a rolling floor stand mount and side tables for the mouse and PC game throttle etc no desk

I can always get a good seated position by just adjusting the angle of incline

Having had similar issues, the yoga balls helped me for a while, but my best move was an (electric) adjustable height desk.  I’m 185cm, and I got a desk that can have the work surface as high as 138cm, along with a monitor stand that will have the center of the screens at eye level.  I usually would shift between three positions— yoga ball, normal stand, and high-stand, so I found the presets were really important to me.

The kneeling chairs were never comfortable for me, but my issue was less about posture and more about hunching over too low of a desk.

The brand I got was from the US (Jarvis), not sure about what is available locally.  I spent close to $1,000 on it with a bunch of accessories that were pretty worthless,  but it served me well.

If I sat on the computer for a long time the crappy office chairs you see on sale everywhere here used to irritate my lower back a bit - as soon as this started I bought a high end office chair.

I got an 'Aeron' chair by Herman Miller, my back hasn't irritated me since.

You can order them from Chanintr at Siam Paragon in Bangkok. They're not cheap, it was about 45k Baht if I remember correctly but they're very good.

You need to order the right size depending on your body size. It's expensive but they're good and have various adjustments, I replaced the arm pads on mine after a few years but apart from that it's just fine.

A must read for Forum posters over 10,000 posts. Jeez..get off your fat lazy backsides and go for a walk! Nobody needs to sit for extended periods...anywhere. I have an office job but still manage to do 10,000 steps a day.

Post #3 has given you the best advice. An electrically operated hi-low desk (aka sit-stand) should service your needs.

I've spent 30 years in the office furniture business. The majority of chairs today are Chinese manufactured and many are manufactured more with looks in mind than optimum comfort.

Low-end to mid-range Chinese chairs very seldom offer adjustable lumbar support.

Post #4 likes his Herman Miller Aeron chair. Personally, I don't see the value (I've sold many) but if it works for him, great.

A chair is very personal, just like a mattress.

That is why one should go to a furniture store and sit in a few.

Honestly, that never worked for me. In the store you focus on the wrong things too easily. The chair matters most when you have been “hunched over your desk” for hours, not a few minutes of fake typing.

I have 4-5 stages of work. (One is actually laying down under my desk with my iPad and doing the stupid <deleted> I can do almost asleep.)  For me, I hurt my back/neck/shoulders when I am in deep concentration writing something or analyzing something for 2-3 hours straight. Checking emails, sitting on conference calls (which I refer to as nap time, often under desk), or mentoring people doesn’t  pose the same issues.

I have 21,257 posts but that has to be seen over 16 years. That puts me at 1,328 per year or just over 4 posts per day. I was working for the first 6 years.

I have had a damaged back since I had an accident in 1982 and both knee caps are shot to <deleted>, plus I am 75 years old which means that I have slowed down a lot over the years.

I got tired of trying different chairs, varying heights/supports  etc to try and get a comfortable blend that worked for me. It didnt happen, any more than about 30 minutes caused a problem. Now I dont use a desk at all !! I sit on the sofa, with a trolley table that adjusts to the perfect height slides under the sofa and in front of me, I can sit all damn day if needed with no issues, much better solution for me, but it is a very personal thing and its not always easy finding the right blend for you, best of luck, nothing worse than discomfort when trying to work on a pc etc.

I was having the same problem but a friend of mine suggested some Office Chairs of Value Office Furniture and I bought one. They are really good at providing you comfortability and gives you proper backrest. I think one of their chairs will be best for you.

I followed the link and put my postcode in the box and nothing was found.

Then I looked up their contact details and found out that Thai postcodes don't work well in Australia.
