Bit of a scary event yesterday...

Just coming home (driving past the Green man for those of you who know phuket) doing around 80-100kmph and all of a sudden the truck is wobblin around like a jelly in a spin drier. Had a blow out, lost one of the back tires on my truck, managed to keep the truck under control (god knows how) and park her up a the side of the road... bit shaken but ok.

Start rummaging through the back trying to find the tools to change the tire... b0ll0x no Jack! Now I'm screwed!

So i sit on the back of the truck contemplating my next move, half an hour goes by and some p*ss poor Thai guy on a beaten up moped and side car pulls over with his heavily pregnant wife, starts babbling something in thai to me which i don't understand. I show him the now shredded tire and after a few moments of hand signals and gesticulation he gets the message... unhooks the side car and disappears leaving me with this huge bellied woman... 10 mins later he arrives with a Jack and tools and helps me change the tire.

My first real case of a total stranger helping me out in this country, pure charity.

glad to know you are safe.

take care.

Thanks Buddha you're ok :o

Nearly the same happened to me some years ago at Vihavadee Road near Don Muang. Nobody stopped and helped me, after about 1 hour a pick up with a driver and his wife stopped and offered me their help.

He towed my car about 15 kilometers to a friend's garage where they fixed my car.

Then I saw the driver's wife had a very little baby about 2-3 months old in her arms, I did not see it earlier.

Sure I offered them some money for their help but they refused to take my money.

Gerd

Had a blowout in a taxi on the tollway a few weeks back, bit worrying to say the least! :o
