Bilingual schooling planned to boost English proficiency

Education Minister Nataphol Teepsuwan said on Friday (November 8 ) that a bilingual curriculum – in Thai and English – would be in place from kindergarten up at more than 2,000 district schools starting in academic year 2020.

Krathong not infringing copyright of San-X: police

TAC Consumer, the copyright agent of San-X in Thailand, has confirmed that the krathong made by 15-year-old girl was not an infringement of its copyright, Deputy National Police Commissioner Pol General Wirachai Songmetta told the press today (November 8) after meeting representatives from the company.

Encouraging Thais to stop using single-use plastic bags

BANGKOK(NNT) - From 1st January next year, major shopping malls and convenience chain stores will discontinue providing single-use plastic bags to customers. The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment has launched a campaign on Silom Road promoting the plastic bag ban, and encouraging families to float only a single Krathong for the whole household this Loy Krathong Festival, to reduce waste in canals and rivers.

Kanchanaburi removes riverside houses after housing project completed

KANCHANABURI(NNT) - Kanchanaburi province has conducted a religious ceremony marking the completion of Ban Mae Lamyai housing units which accommodate former riverside residents of the Khwae Yai river, as they started the removal of houses by the river, and relocated houseboats into a permanent docking spot. All 60 new housing units will be officially delivered to villagers by the Prime Minister in another ceremony on 11th November 2019.
