My Download Speed Been Terrible Of Late

Featured Replies

Acording to ThaiVisa speed test, my results are as follows:

Download 8.3 KB/sec, Upload 17.8 KB/sec. I pay for 1mb/512kb

I've been downloading quite a few movies from Newsgroups. So I guess I have been using quite alot of BW.

I`m usng TOT's IPStar, does anyone know if there is a cap on the BW? or is everyone having problems with internet speeds of late?

Thaivisa's speedtest uses a Singapore server I believe. What is your speed like loading sites in Thailand? Thai government sites are a good indicator. http://www.mfa.go.th/

Getting full bandwidth on international links is rare unfortunately. :o

Updating the driver for your ethernet card might help too.

Oh my wife just had an interesting coversation with our IPStar Tech guy. He told her they are monitoring which people are heavy users(which I am) and which are light. The light users will be powered down and the heavy users will be maxed out to the correct speed. He asked for my boxes serial code so he can get me back powered up.

OP, what do u pay for that internet?

2,600 a month :o

If is CS-Loxinfo IP-Star, they downgrade to 50% if the the downloads exeed 4 GByte a month!! I don't know TOT do the same but they may do because in an erlier conversation with CD-L people they told me that the policie by TOT is the same.

At the time I signed up with CS-L in April 2006 they have unlimited usage but was cutting down in June 2006 to max 4 GB a month!

I would be at my monthly quota every 3-4 days...That would be terrible
