Me as well, hope they do it. Be nice what with the new stadium as well, good bit of planning.

Last top flight game; 70+ years ago. They went down with Leeds that year (1946). Liverpool and Man Utd were one and two.

A well-run club, with a decent supporter base. Expensive shirts though. Seventy five squids for a shirt!?

They deserve a crack at the EPL. Their all-attacking style is the way forward. No parking any bus for them. However, I will desist in backing them for a top 4 finish if they do overcome Fulham; but they could easily survive, just like Bournemouth, until,,, eventually!

I can recall the members of Milli Vanilli, moving around in wheel chairs. Was that you Andy?

Ah yes! Singing!

The girls were all at the front along with a couple of lads. Then there were those in the middle; sort of the choir. And then there were us; a group of about eight; all boys.

One day I plucked up the courage to ask Mr James, why I was at the back. "Mr James. Why am I at the back? I try hard to sing nice." "Owl." He replied in a very measured way. "Don't try so (little pause) hard."

Looking back, I think he would like to have slipped in a nasty word between the 'so' and 'hard'." But, he was right. I couldn't sing for toffee.

I only excelled at two disciplines at any school I ever attended, until leaving at 16 One was 'Technical Drawing', and t'other 'Geography'. My liking for Maths came along much later.

Strange, now remembering those school days, I can only recall little bits, and not many nice episodes unfortunately. Probably 'cause there weren't many. The 'learning light' came on for me in my late 20s.

Now I'm faced with making sure Mildred gets what she can out of her schooling. Not easy! But remembering my abysmal school efforts helps.

I was able to explain to my children that I was a “memorable student...” they eventually cottoned on... ????

They're  favourites for the game tonight. Had a browse around the betting, they love putting obscure bets together don't they?

It’s a shame. The last 2 games of the season and last night they never performed to their best. Credit to Fulham, they deserved it on the night, but the fact that Brentwood (????) beat them home and away in the League,  it don’t seem right somehow that they miss out.

Owl Log - 06-08-2020

Very decent rain last night.

The overflow water was running into pond one very well. The fish were very active. Insects coming in from the rice field and also from the water rising.

Another foot, or so, and it will be filled.

So with that in mind, I set up a gravity fill pipe, going from one to two. I'll set up another from two to three tomorrow. Next big rain and I might have three ponds filled.

And t'other side.

At each end of the gravity flow, black pipe, I tied a small brick and a float. Much easier to move it about the pond then.

The last 1000m of the 2022, leading into Ban Dung is finished. It's already filthy dirty because of a dozen muddy dirt tracks leading on to it. But, at least it's safe, unlike the next 1000m, which is anything but.

The other side of the 2022 along this section is not as bad. I'm told that there are no immediate plans to repair further.

Talking of roads leads nicely on to out farm expressway.

A new hole has emerged.

Been repaired once but the repair needs repair.

Someone has put a rock in the hole. A few more will be needed later on as the under-soil deteriorates.

The guy that did the cutting around the eucas had a visit from his daughter in the week and ,,,,.

she brought with her his Beautiful twin girl grandchildren.

They have names that I can't pronounce so I've named then Twin One, and Twin Two, although I'm not sure I can tell them apart.

Mrs Owl's niece has called her baby Chelsea (Official name) although I don't know how the name is spelt. Just as well the dad didn't support The Gunners.

Had a lady pulling the weeds out of the rice field on Monday. Not work for the lazy.

At the mo' she is doing the easy bit. The weeds will get a fair bit tougher soon.

We found a lovely insect.

The Mrs tells me that some people kill them to make pretties out of the wings. That's a bit sad; if it's true.

Made a 10 litre batch of Reishi in the week.

Ingredients on the right. Got my Lao Khao at the ready. The lime peel I keep for my bio-weed-killer.

All the '2's. Must be a lottery winner that. Next time all the same will be 333333; 111,111 km away.

88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Fell out with the Mrs last night. Just before I took the pic's of the delightful twins, I paid the man working for us; 4300 baht. When we got home she started on me. "Why you not give he wife money?" I said "Teerak, he did the work, and I wanted him to have the money." "But wife asked me for the money." "Never mind dear. Next time you can pay." That started it. "I tell lady she can have money. Then give to husband."

Loss of face in there somewhere.

So no cup of Rosy or coffee for me tonight. And to make matters worse I havn't handed over any dosh.

I wanted Brentford to get promotion. They didn't, and that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. But I'm gutted for Wigan. Finished mid-table and got deducted 12 points for going into administration. The players didn't do wrong, the fans didn't do wrong, but the 12 point deduction rule has hurt them with relegation. I'll be cheering them on next season. C'mon you Latics.

Milly has been going on the local bus to school this week. I walk her over to the stopping point (only one minute away), and wait until she is safely on her way. I just feel so uneasy about it all. TBH I'd rather have kept up with me taking her every morning.

I was charged 200 baht for Milly attending four sessions extra tuition between 4 and 5. The Mrs paid, and I protested that it was too much; a rip-off in fact. A full month is 400 baht. I thought 100 baht better. I've not paid the schools fees yet. Might knock of something when I do. So I'm not a happy bunny at the present. But just got a cup of Rosy. So things looking up.

Bye y'all

Seems to be a fairly common thing that the money is paid to the wife. The women have to pay the bills and budget for the family.

A couple of the guys doing some work for my wife actually refused to accept the cash and asked her to give it to their wives - all credit to them.

Sometimes the men are tempted to spend most of it on a night or two of boozing, gambling, and debauchery - then they just waste the rest (as Bestie once said).

You are probably correct. But, I didn't know other arrangements had been made.

I think GB made the comment more than once. What was it?

"Where did the money go George?"

"Fast cars, even faster women, slow horses and strong drink. The rest I just wasted."

My favourite story of him was when he was at a posh hotel in Monte Carlo. He had had a good night on the casino tables. He returned to his room and ordered champagne. The waiter who brought the drink up to his room was English and a footy fan. He knocked on George's door and was asked to enter. There was money everywhere and Miss World was splayed half naked on the bed. The waiter could contain himself no longer; "George, where did it all go wrong?"

Hi Owl,

I am so glad to see that at least some rain is falling and that your ponding scheme (not cheap by any means) is paying off for you.

The life of a farmer has always been rather tough throughout history but,I guess, has always had its rewards as well as its natural catastrophes.....

A few glasses of the good stuff,a bit of a chat with one's mates and tomorrow brings another day.

Boasting again Owl?

Great pics as always.

It’s times like these that make me realize how much I miss being over there. I never thought i would miss even the most simplest of things.

Like Garry, my timeline is 2-3 years all being well.

I have my least favourite course to go on in a couple of weeks when I get off the rig called HUET. It’s basically Helicopter underwater escape exercise and one is when it capsizes and turns 180. I am not a good swimmer and hate being underwater so not a good one for me.

I did it 4 years ago and got through it by skin of my teeth so if I fail this time then that’s my lot which kind of adds to the pressure although I’m a believer in what will be........

Talking of flat roofs. I had a small extension built on the side of my I/L home about 3 yr ago just so we have our own space when I come over. Own bathroom, TV, bedroom etc. Basic but only cost around 150,000 all in using  a few local guys. Served me well so far.

Great stuff.

Swimming runs in our family blood. My daughter was an age group world champion. And another was world champion fire-fighting swimmer.

But! I understand the apprehension if you are not comfortable in water.

Like the colours, even the rubbish bin. WHU, or is it Villa or Burnley? No! I jest. Of course not, it's the Irons. Champions league next year?

Like the colours,

Yes..leaving aside the allusion to Fhutbol..I always enjoyed the vibrant colours of Thailand..and liked the inevitable clash of the pigments applied to many villas.Colour is king!

The same in India.I believe that the producers of 'Rome' took their sense of colour and textures-both in architecture and textiles- from modern India and they could have easily done so from Thailand too..

Can see the colours at the schools. Boys wearing bright pink shirts. Yellows too.

Outside Mildreds schools at 16-00, there are reds, oranges, pinks and browns, from students at other schools. M' changes her colours three time a week.

My favourite colour is dark green. When put along side gold it look great; especially on metal fences and gates. I like gold too.

Of course the Ozzies like green and gold. Virtually all their sports persons wear these colours.

A strange little occurrence just happened here at the mil’s in rural Lat Yao ( Nakhon Sawan ), not exactly Isaan but as close as I get .

Relaxing in the house when a bird started an awful screeching noise along with rapid flapping of wings , sounded like it was stuck somewhere in the house.

After a few minutes of this racket, investigated and found a large(ish ) snake, around 1.5 m long  trying to enter a downstairs window , after a few taps on the window screen with a stick it slithered off and disappeared off into the undergrowth .

As soon as the snake left the window the bird , black with a yellow mask , seemed satisfied with itself and stopped screeching, watched the snake on its merry way and then flew off .

Seemed like a pretty damn good alarm bird !!

As for the 4 “ alarm “ dogs ??, they slept peacefully through the whole thing ????

It will have been a Myna and probably hangs out in that area or has a nest nearby. I have seen (heard) them do the same with tree shrews.

Any idea of the kind of snake?

Green and gold are the national colours..just the same as your red, white and blue except on our national flag which remains staunchly committed to the Union flag...but at night...????

Otherwise various sports teams wear most of the colours of the rainbow.

Plus the traditional ones,of course.

Cricket on the green..

Yes, a Myna, just had a look on google images.

The snake was a dark green and about 1 1/2 m in length , quite a chunky body, not sleek at all .
