Hi Guys

My 3 yr old laptop LCD is beginning to flicker, most noticeably on a white screen. At first I thought it was the brightness but then I noticed the flicker more and more and its happening all the time now

Is it relatively easy to check the connections for the LCD screen or is this a job for a technician. My biggest problem is that where I live, there are no computer technicians but in a week or two I shall be going to BKK to pick up my new pick up truck. So my questions are

1 What should I check on my computer.

2 Where in BKK could I take it to be checked over if I cant fix it

3 If the LCD cannot be fixed, replaced, then I would want a 19" plus LCD desktop screen to replace it, I do a lot of artwork and occasionally play a few games

Any recommendation from the wise and the learned

JAF.

May it's not the screen but the graphics engine?! If you have, connect a "normal" monitor to the laptop and check that screen works fine or have the same problems. If have the same problems, than it's the graphic engine and you should start thinking to buy a new laptop!

Good advice, I checked it on another monitor and see no signs of flicker so it looks like the LCD is on its way out. I dont suppose there is ny way to swap out this LCD screen and replace with another ??

If not, I am looking at the Samsung SM205BW 20" LCD for around 11,000 bht, any other recommendations please

sometimes the connection between the screen and laptop needs to be re-seated, if you dont fel like pokin around inside the pute just get it done at a shop, let them know what you want done.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained

I dug out my screwdriver and after 23 screws got inside, clean it all up and push in the connections. I also separated the LCD wires which where very close together

HEY PRESTO, as good as new

No flickering, beautifully clear whites

Happy happy joy joy

Cheers
