Is the child a Thai national? This may be of some interest to you. This is from Thai Consulate at Savannakhet

Types of Visa: Non-Immigrant Visa "O" (For the purpose of visiting family member of a Thai nationality, a spouse of Thai national)

Non-Immigrant Visa "O" is issued to applicants who wish to enter Thailand for the purpose of visiting family member of a Thai nationality, a spouse of Thai national. The validity of visa is 3 months. The permitted length of stay is up to 90 days from the date of arrival in Thailand.

Required documents

Visa application form [Download] which is completely filled out and signed by the applicant

Original passport or travel document (must not expire within 180 days and contain at least two complete empty visa pages) and A copy of passport (The page (s) shows the applicant's photo, name, date, and place of birth and the expiration date of passport)

Two (2) photos of the applicant (3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within 6 months)

An original and a copy of marriage certificate or an original and a copy of official birth certificate of child

A copy of Thai house registration of spouse / parent or child

A copy of Thai ID card of spouse / parent

A copy of passport of spouse / parent

Visa Fee: 2,000 Baht (Single Entry)

Notes:

Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary.

Visa Fee must be paid in Thai Baht only, Visa Fees are not refundable in any cases.

Legal migration procedures: In case a false or forged document is submitted in the framework of a visa application the visa will be refused and may be prosecuted.

The applicant must sign on each page of copies of documents.

Non-Immigrant Visa "O" is issued to holders of passports wishing to travel to Thailand to track their families in the event the foreign spouse or father / mother with a Thai child is 3 months old. Thailand no more than 90 days at a time

Documents for visa application

Visa application (Download)

Original passport with copy (At least 180 days old) showing the photo, name-surname, date and place of birth And the expiration date of the passport

2 photos (3.5 x 4.5 cm in size, taken within 6 months)

Marriage certificate or a copy of the birth certificate of a minor (In the case of minors) with a copy

Spouse's house registration (In the case of a spouse) or a minor (in the case of a minor)

Copy of spouse's ID card

Copy of spouse's passport

Fee 2,000 baht (Single Entry)

There is no financials needed and you can get it as a multi entry for 5000 baht which if used correctly will give you 15 months but you must do a border run every 90 days and just before it expires you do another border run and you get an extra 90 days with that stamp giving you 15 months and then you can apply for another one at Savannakhet. Some people have been doing this without any problems for years.

If you are thinking about going to Vientiane then things have changed there. You now need to have an appointment, you can no longer just romp up at the gate. Also you cannot get a multi entry there only a 90 day single entry.

Wrong info. Savannakhet will not issue a multiple entry non-o visa for being the parent of a Thai. Been that way for a long time.

Where did you find the 2nd part of your post. I cannot find it on the Savannakhet website.

On the Thai Consulate Savannakhet website then on the types of visa and then you will see  "Non-Immigrant Visa "O" (For the purpose of visiting family member of a Thai nationality, a spouse of Thai national)" and what I listed is exactly what is on there. So if the information that I have listed is incorrect then the information that is listed on the website is incorrect.

This is the link to the section.

So I'm all good to go there and get 3 months easy. Back to back? There's not going to be a problem?

It should not be a problem. But I think getting a 60 day extension of your 90 day entries helps.

You are a father living on 25,000 baht a month (35000-10000) in Thailand?

And think in 18 months it will be "easy street"?  Cannot get a retirement visa on 25k or 35K a month.

Just seems you have very very little income to be living here and raising a child.

Best of luck and stay strong

Kindly, SW

Yes. But my rent is free.

And easy street with reference to getting a visa compared to know where I have to pay the mother of my children for any sort of help regarding documents whatsoever. Right now she wants 5000 baht for a photocopy of her tambien bann to do my extension.

All for my kids cos she cant look after them.
