China to buy $50 billion in U.S. farm products in return for tariff concessions-U.S. sources

Good but sadly lo late for many farm families

This isn't farm families. This is agro-biz. Corporations that own square miles of land and multi-million dollar machines that harvest. Somehow tears always well up for the 'farmers'.

So the dems always say the poor 'farmers' and then they talk about how farming needs to be stopped, beef is killing the planet, climate change (ethanol), tax soda (corn syrup) and plan to basically bankrupt those 'poor farmers'.

This is not impacting the guy with a 40 acre spread selling eggs at the market locally.

[Chinese] citizens have a high tolerance threshold of pain and suffering

the Chinese political/ruling class do not value human life. Having a high pain threshold just means spending more time in agony before your death.  Would love to see what would happen to Greta if she were to attack China who is arguably the world's biggest polluter ...

Oh, good. No damage due to the trade wars. I was so confused by the facts.

Yea, the "facts" that CNN shares causes a lot of confusion.

The man who cannot negotiate his way out of a paper bag, has agreed to end the trade war with China, over an agreement to buy a measly $25 billion in additional agricultural products from the US? I knew this would end badly. Trump is caving, as he is pathologically fearful of losing the election in 2020. Xi got over on him, as did Kim, Putin, MBS, and nearly everyone else he has attempted to negotiate a deal with. He is a two bit deal maker, who is fairly adept at doing a deal on a 15 unit apartment building, or selling condos to Russian gangsters. Anything else, and he is in way over his head. Many of us knew he would get his butt kicked by China. But who thought is would be this gruesome?

I'm sorry but are you referring to Trump or those that came before him?

A MEASLY $25 billion in AG products? Did you say MEASLY? Have a chat with the farm community and get back to me on that one.

There is no deal. Terms will not made public. Each side will sign its own version of the "deal." Signing is supposed to be in January. All this was announced in October, remember, and was supposed to be signed then. There is no enforcement provision. All China does is to promise and try to hit buying targets. Trump OTOH has cancelled one set of tariffs and reduced an earlier set of tariffs. All for promises. China has made promises for the same things since Bill Clinton. And they never fulfill them. Trump traded his tariff leverage for nothing. US Trade Negotiator Lighthizer in fact says China only promised to buy $32 billion over two years. That is $1 billion less per year than they bought in 2017. Fat man was rolled.

That's a heap of opinionated speculation unless you have inside info on any of this.

Yea, a list of failure:

North Korea

Venezuela

The Wall

DACA

Immigration moratorium

5 percent reduction in the deficit (BIGGEST LAUGH OF ALL!)

Budget sequester (LOL)

Birthright Citizenship Executive Order

Mexican Cartels designated as terrorist Executive Order

On and on and on and on.

Failure.

And people praising him for his success.

Remember the tariffs on steel and aluminum?  Check the stock prices of US Steel Corp (X) and Alcoa (AA) over the past 2 years to see how well that went.

Not to distract, but Moscow Mitch is bringing in a Russian metals company (Rusal) to his home state of Kentucky.  How's that for patriotism?

Really, you need to go back and look at the latest economic data, in particular the employment report, the tariffs have had no discernible impact in the states outside of farmers which have temporarily been subsidized. I would have preferred he just increase the tariffs to the point US corporations are forced to develop supply chains outside of China...there will never be fair trade with China.

US numbers show trump tariffs on China so far has cost the US taxpayer approx US$80+ billion plus job losses. How long will it take to recoup the losses. trump Administration is well known to make misleading and false claims so what are the documented T&Cs the Chinese have allegedly agreed? Some US corporation have shifted some production to countries such as Vietnam, what is the net benefit to the US tax payer? BTW has the trump family ceased offshoring production of goods for their businesses? To add even after his election trump was still employing illegals, the man is a conman and criminal.

And while Trump was folding on the trade deal, the Chinese have been expanding their inflitration of American military bases, educational institutions, and research facilities. Apparently, the Trump administration kept it all under wraps, afraid to publicly embarrass the Chinese.

Quote

The base intrusion took place in late September on a sensitive installation near Norfolk, Va. The base includes Special Operations forces, said the people with knowledge of the incident. Several bases in the area have such units, including one with the headquarters of the Navy’s elite SEAL Team Six.  Chinese citizens have been caught not just wandering on to government installations but also improperly entering university laboratories and even crossing farmland to pilfer specially bred seeds. In 2016, a Chinese man, Mo Hailong, pleaded guilty to trying to steal corn seeds from American agribusiness firms and give them to a Chinese company. Before he was caught, Mr. Mo successfully stole seeds developed by the American companies and sent them back to China, according to court records. He was sentenced to three years in prison.   https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/us-secretly-expelled-chinese-officials-suspected-of-spying-after-breach-of-military-base/ar-AAK8JgO

Allowing foreign nationals to inflitrate your military bases is just criminally careless.
