You cannot possibly be serious. I don't remember Big Joke affecting 2 week tourists in any way. Likewise with Big Oud. Likewise with visa policy. Public safety, scamming and corruption are slightly less of a problem than they used to be and they've always been there. Air quality? Never heard a 2 week tourist complaining about air quality in Pattaya. None of your gripes go any way to explaining the relatively sudden lack of tourists in Pattaya. Expats maybe but I'd mostly disagree with you even then. And please don't mention the price of wine, it's not and never has been a consideration for 2 week tourists in Pattaya. A close friend stays with me 3-4 times a year for 2-3 weeks at a time. He wouldn't recognise any of your "problems".

Yes i totally agree with you and i am pretty sure it was the ''real'' project under all this mess i mean the junta want punish all these ''red'' people and get rid of them in sending them back in their poverty and misery with no any hope (Where they were before the Thaksins era) and get rid also from all these farang used as a social and economic elevator for the poorest families in Issan lucky enough to have a daughter in the ''business''

Hit the gym and lose the pot belly & barge ass, brush up on good manners, shave, comb your hair, shower 2 X a day, wear antiperspirant, brush you teeth, don't have a breath that will scare even a female hippo away, don't swill the beer all night, don't dress in t-shirts, 3/4 shorts and flip flops. In short look good and you won't get rejected. If you insist that a lady accepts you just because you have money, look like an obese hippo, smell like hippo sh*t and dress like a slob with similar manners - Stay at home and wallow in the mud - you pig!! Daveyh
Warning signs have been ignored for far too long .......... now the "rot has set in" it's obvious that there's no turning back as the "loss of face" is so important here. It will continue with "immediate first aid" measures until they run out of "short term" quick fixes. Pattaya was a very profitable adult playground for Thailand & had been since the early days of the Vietnam war (1964 era) ................ it just sprung up from nowhere with very little investment. In fact, it was a "golden gift" which was the inherited basis of tourism here ......... everyone knew that Pattaya was the "city of fun". It was lively, exotic & adult entertainment at it's best. Now it's all doom & gloom, full of bored & angry people, both local & foreign ......... the fun is long gone. Most of us now have left or just stay home. Sadly the town now has the Chinese, Indian & Russian tourists who also have started to "dwindle" of late. It will not be long before all the neighboring countries will seriously benefit from Thailand killing the "golden goose". RIP Pattaya ............... I have so many fond memories of what "once was" ............ sad. Edited December 14, 2019 by Daveyh

Patts is not he only place on earth. Most are missing the point. Maybe all the bars are going under because the girls are using technology to secure the next hansum man. And men have discovered freelancers, instead of precious overpriced pratts in bars - only an idiot would entertain paying outrageous costs there for the girls and barfines, lady drinks and expensive beer.

There are some really nice girls in the Tesco Lotus though. I would be careful with these girls in the Tesco Lotus. Or apply for a longer visa at their home embassies or consulates. Btw. Thailand´s visa regulations are easier than the regulations of Vietnam. Europeans can stay in Thailand for 30 days, in Vietnam only 15 days without a special visa. I am currently applying for my multi entry Vietnam tourist visa. ONLINE, fill out application forum, online, make payment, online, letter of invitation in emailed to me the next day, I show it upon entry.$115 multi entry tourist visa in Thailand, download forms, get a passport picture, go to bank, get a money order, go to local UPS store , special delivery , insured, envelope with my passport inside, return postage, wait over a week, drive back to UPS and pick it up. Well over $200 dont tell me this bs of things being easier, maybe for retirees??? but certainly not for a longer stay tourist. Popular Post ericdiam
Hello, I went last week to Nha Trang in Vietnam. That is the city where the Russians are now by thousands. They are owners of bars, restaurants, pharmacies, shops like 7/11, really you see them everywhere. More Russians than Vietnamese nearly And yeah also lots lots of Chinese tourists. Thailand and Pattaya its over, all much much too expensive, strong THB, still a army state, zero democracy, and then all the stricter rules from immigration, treating us like we are all criminals to be followed wherever we go. 4

Popular Post freethinker
I was told I was not welcome anymore. That Thailand was not for me. That Thailand now catered to a higher class of tourist. That the young rich professional demographics had taken over. Me being just a middle class bloke from the west is nothing but a bum and that my money was no good. I listened and now spend my 1 million bath a year travel allowance somewhere else. 3

Banana7
Thailand wanted Pattaya to become a family resort town. As it becomes one, families don't spend money in go-go bars, beer bars, small mom and pop restaurants. Also they don't stay in one area for a long time. So it should come as no surprise that these establishments have less patrons. Also, the Bank of Thailand restricting outflows of Thai baht will continue the appreciation of Baht against most other currencies, making Thailand very expensive! Would I make the effort to go back- probably not. Multiply me by thousands and easily explained. Who is to blame. The authorities are. Their obsession with trying to turn a dump with a stinking beach and poisonous sea into the Riviera of SEA has resulted in no rich tourists and not enough mongers. 4
