Those are states that he won with thin margins. That will be Georgia, Alabama, Texas among a slew of states. Should the Dems come up with a candidate that middle America can support Trump is toast, IMO. Otherwise he's 2020 to 2024. I don't know what possessed the Dems to sabotage Bernie in favour of the pants suited one, but that's why they lost, IMO. Sadly for them, Bernie seems to be a man for the last election now. His heart attack probably ended his current attempt, but who knows? 1

The house has the sole power to impeach. They drafted two articles of Impeachment and passed them. He is impeached. There had been a delay in transmitting the passed impeachment articles to the senate where a political "trial" of some kind is supposed to be held. Don't fret. It will be transmitted to the senate. Of course it's extremely unlikely that the senate will conflict and remove it but it's not quite impossible. 1

Popular Post thaicurious Posted January 2, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2020 Here is conservative aggregator Real Clear's totals to date, Jan 1, 2020, on what percentage of "Americans want Trump ousted post-impeachment": https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/public_approval_of_the_impeachment_and_removal_of_president_trump-6957.html As you can see by their graph. Since Oct 1, 2019, percentages support, by five times as much (as measured by days each, alone, never mind by sheer size of differences in each day) the removal of the now impeached president Trump. For a mere 15 days a small percentage more said don't toss him out of the White House. But for an entire 76 days so far, greater percentages said rid our White House of the impeached one. Same trends here too https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/impeachment-polls/ Interestingly enough, the latest polls show that while support for impeachment declined a bit around the time of the impeachment vote, it now tends to go up after the Republicans made clear they would not gear any witness. 1 1

Yeah, I'd seen that too but thought poetic to use a known conservative aggregator so alt-right wingers could rant at will against "fake news" they'd not like from their own source. Also I observed similar to yours though I don't know if trends will go back up to where they tended. Or at least I was less sure until the most recent emails just came to light on Trump ordering the hold on Congressionally approved funds while being told his hold was both illegal and ill-advised by his own National Security advisors. Let's watch them argue no witnesses now and let's see how that changes public support both for the impeached one and for his complicit GOP Senate lackeys.

On the other hand, according to 538, if you ask voters if they approve of beginning the impeachment process or if theyi approve of it, then 52.3 currently support it and 42.0 don't. So Trump supporters' claim that impeachment was a witch hunt and is going to hurt the Democrats seems unlikely. 1 1

They called witnesses that were relevant. Repubs could call relevant witnesses. You do understand the difference between an investigation and a trial dont you. do you also understand that if the senate does what you suggest they perjure themselves because before the trial they must swear an oath to be fair and impartial. 1 1

So it was striking that the stories they told simply added to the evidence that President Trump abused his office and twisted long-standing U.S. policy in Ukraine to serve his personal political interests. 2 1
