BANGKOK(NNT) - Prizes under the Taste, Shop, Spend campaign were handed out, in the first round of lot-drawing yesterday, to those who have spent via g-Wallet 2, including a 590,000 baht pickup truck as a top prize.

Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana attended the draw, done using a machine provided by the Government Lottery Office, for the Toyota Hilux Revo plus 135 other prizes. The prizes were drawn from a total of about 9.2 million entries, including people, stores and restaurants which joined the campaign.

The finance minister said a total of 11.79 million people took part in the three phases of the campaign, from September 27 to December 17, and combined spent over 24.7 billion baht. Those included 11.6 billion baht via g-Wallet 1 and 13.1 billion baht via g-Wallet 2. An average of 400 million baht has been spent via g-Wallet 2 daily. There are six draws with the next ones scheduled for January 3 ,10, 17, 24 and February 3, 2020.

Those interested can check via the website of the Taste, Shop, Spend campaign, which was designed to promote domestic spending and consumption via g-Wallet and stimulate the national economy and tourist industry, especially during the New Year and other major festive periods. Those who registered are entitled to all the three phases until January 31, 2020. A maximum of a 20% refund is offered plus a total of 12 million baht in prizes.

For every 1,000 baht spent via g-Wallet 2, a registered individual is entitled to one entry in the draw, with over 500 prizes at stake. Big prizes include automobiles and pickup trucks, while with every electronic receipt of 100 baht or more, a store or restaurant under the campaign is entitled to one draw entry, with over 100 gold prizes at stake.

Due to the decreasing rate of business registrations, the Department of the Comptroller General has decided to bring forward the deadline for stores and restaurants to join the campaign, from January 15, 2020, to December 23, 2019. A total of 101,752 stores and restaurants have already joined in the campaign.
