Trump Rejects EU’s ‘Zero Tariffs’ Offer, Vows to Erase $350bn Trade Deficit With Energy Sale
For some reason I wrote "tax cuts" when I meant to write "tariffs" Here's the link again https://archive.ph/sdqRf But the fact is it did bring about the building of semiconducting factories in the US. And it was a bipartisan backed bill. I've included a link to an article by Chris Miller a member of the politically conservative American Enterprise Institute and the author of Chip War: The Chips Act has been surprisingly successful so far More than halfway through its incentives spending, the US will have far greater scope to manage shocks https://archive.ph/sKSBs#selection-1401.0-1407.102 And just because you didn't mention other actions taken against China, doesn't mean that they aren't valid evidence that shows the Biden Administration taking a strong stance. -

Thailand bets big on casino boom under entertainment banner
It’s certainly an interesting time for Thailand with all the discussions about legalizing casinos and online gambling. The government's push to turn this into a major economic project could have a huge impact, but as you mentioned, it’s not without its risks. There’s no doubt that legalized gambling could bring in significant tax revenue and boost tourism, especially if they implement it carefully. However, as many of the critics point out, there’s a fine line between growth and potential social harm. Without strict regulations, there’s a real concern that this could lead to more issues like money laundering, gambling addiction, and the exploitation of vulnerable people. -

What would it actually take to elevate Thailand?
As long as Thai build a shopping mall they already elevate it to first world industrial country. I believe there is central mall in Ubon. -

Please don't tell me that you pronounce the 'T' in "often"... Or, do you?
Gee, @simon43. I was going to say he must be speaking or hearing some bastardized form of British English. I know all us boomers were taught to pronounce the 't' in often when we were in school (1st thru 12 & University). I was shocked when I listened to google translate (GT) dropping the T. GT sure doesn't understand when you speak 'often' with a silent 't'. It heard me say "off and"... So, maybe they don't speak the 't' up in Yankee land, but we do in Texas and Oklahoma (well except maybe Rep Jasmine Crockett, cause she speaks wiseass). 🤣 How's things in Myanmar? -
