An update for anyone that is attempting to rid themselves of the True router. After some web research, I ordered a Huawei ONU (HG8310M) to try - no fields to copy & insert a MAC or SN from my True Gigatex router (only a LOID field which apparently not used by True). And I couldn't locate any firmware updates (without having to provide my phone or WhatsApp details anyways). So that Hauwei onu isnt suitable for use with True.

As the GLinet Flint 4 will come with a SFP port, now looking/considering a sfp module. Would be excellent for being small & no no extra power cords. But everytime i read about a suitable module, searching Shoppee/Lazada is like finding a needle in a heystack.

Have you called or messaged TRUE about what you want to do? When I wanted to ditch the standard Huawei router from 3BB, I messaged them and they sent an engineer around and they added my HG8310 ONT to their system and it was working with my new ASUS WiFi 7 router in minutes - I posted my experience above. Worth contacting TRUE to see what they say.

I'm a bit of a do it myself person so contacting True is my last option. In reality nothing worrying me about the True Gigatex router except no firmware updates. So I'm just playing around to see if I can do it myself to use my own router.

With 3BB, the way to get the ONT working for me was for them to enter the serial number on their system - suspect same with TRUE. I could find no way of changing the serial number on the ONT. Tried everything, in the end I just sent them an email. Amazingly they answered and sent an engineer within a few days. He knew exactly what to do. He snapped a picture of the ONT serial number and sent it to his office. It was working within 5 minutes. So happy to finally get it working!
