What flowers grow (and sell) good in Isaan?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

We're starting farm, or actually father been farming for many years without real success.

We (my wife and I) try different approach.

We live about 20km from Phen, Udon Thani. Middle of the rice fields, kind of on top of a hill.

As the soil is way too dry, without constant irrigation nothing really grow.

Old mango threes and so have no problems.

All new die

Greenhouse it will be.

It takes long time for preparation, water tower, irrigation lines, electricity.

I Guess next year April we are ready to really start growing.

It can be anything, flexible setup.

Strawberry, flower, tomatoes, peppers.

Hydroponics

Flexible.

(For now)

But what to grow?

What is most easy to sell for normal price?

I read about a farmer doing jasmine bulbs.

Start out ok, but with + 10kg a day.. and no people to buy.

I like first to find out what we can sell before we start to grow ????

You could try Marigolds ,near always a market ,used for merit making at temples ,but have been told they need some insecticide ,as they are vulnerable to insect attacks.

Which surprise me  as they are used as an repellent in some crops ,integrated agriculture system .

We have a few farmers growing them around here ,normally no more than 1-2 rie.
