Hello guys,

Soon I'll need to extend my spouse visa and I was wondering about the bank book update, how old can it be? I heard of people updating it on the day of the extension request but can it also be the day before? Also, with the coming of E-Books are those accepted by the immigration? (banks apps and such)

Thank you for the help

Bank book updated on the day you apply.

If you do not have a bank book for your account immigration will accept a bank statement done at the bank. Some offices are now wanting the bank book and a statement.

The statement can be older right? I can use the automatic machines outside the bank to update the book on the very day but if I have to wait for the bank to open I'll get to the immigration late. Maybe they can give me a number for the afternoon queue I don't know...

Only the updated bank book is needed.

OP, Joe didn't mention "activity" on day of application. I assume because he knows at CM not required. However at some imm they require it. CW one example.

Perhaps make small deposit then update.

Bangkok Bank and possibly others don't require a transaction to get an update at their update machines. Just shove the book in the machine and it will  print a new line with the current date and the balance brought forward.

True. However my first ever extension at CW I had bank letter and update. Done at CW banking area day of application. Fortunately had the gf with me and io insisted she run downstairs to bank and make deposit. Sort of strange as the balance then did not match bankbook.

Every year since I get my queue # then down to bank. The clerk puts hand out for the 200baht fee and almost automatically waits for another 100baht deposit into account.

Members will now jump in and state "not required" fine. Done that for 7 years without issue.

Several immigration offices wants to see account activity when showing the bank book/bank statement. I normally withdraw 2000 baht before I update my book and get my statement. 100 baht to my bank and 1900 baht to immigration.

Same with me. Get my queue number at Immigration first then down to the bank. Everyone needs some walking around cash anyway. I just withdraw 1000 baht then update the book at the machine. All before the bank opens.

I realize this is off topic, however, I have tried many options re CW over the years. In the main getting there early etc.

Last one I aimed to arrive ~ 11am to get my queue #. Knowing full well I would be seen after lunch. In mean time did my update and activity and obtain bank letter. Then even provide photocopy of last page bankbook.

So point of story....I sat after lunch next to chap that arrived very early. We basically walked out together with extensions based on retirement. Only posting as suggestion for CW folk. Damn can I delete!

I get there at 8:30am when the doors open. It takes 10 minutes for the early birds, who have been waiting for hours, to file in. After that it depends on what section you are going to. It’s hardly worth the effort to get up before sunrise unless you absolutely positively have to get out of there before, say 10am.

Re bank...you don't go to cashier. The guy at door will issue ticket #. You deal with clerk table area. He/she will know what your after. Have your photocopy of first page bank book and last 2 month pages. You don't need big withdrawal. I actually deposit 100baht. As for obtaining your L queue # you need bring along your completed tm7 with pic attached etc. Personally my experience is 8.30 arrival will make little difference to later arrival. 11am good plan imo.

Walk straight past all the folk filling in forms and collect you L ticket inside.

The L area is to left of ticket issue desk.

There is food court/ fashion area to chill for lunch break.

Since you are required to have the 800K in the bank two months prior to your application I typically get 3 months of bank statements from Kasikorn. This can be done a few days before you arrive. There is an ATM and a bank update machine outside the Kasikorn branch at CW. You can do the withdrawal and bank book update at the machines and don't have to wait for the bank to open or wait for a cashier if the bank is already open. Yes on the photocopy of the bank book. There is a copy shop on the same floor as the bank branch.

You also need the official bank letter verifying that you have an account with the bank. You can do this at the same time you get the bank statements.

download and fill out the TM7 form and attach passport photo. They have glue there to attach the photo but the bottle was almost empty when I did it at in the office.

You will need a hand drawn map of where you live. Do this beforehand.d

You will need your TM30 receipt

Photocopies of the important pages in your passport including your TM6

What do you mean "bank statements".

I just did photocopy of of last few months of bank book. My most recent extension was with an FD ac and a savings ac. Both untouched. I needed 2 bank letters as a result. One for each account. Also made deposit into both on the day.

I provided photocopy of map provided by condo flyer. Did not need hand drawn.

I did not need tm30. Tried to show it to io and she did not glance at it. Just said "you keep".

Passport copies are identity page. Current extension stamp and or reentry stamp.

Most recent entry stamp along with tm6 (both sides to be sure).

I did this October 8

I just ask the bank for 3 months of statements and they print them for me. I don't have a printer. I guess you can do it yourself.

As for the other stuff, as you know what is required, asked for, and accepted varies a bit. This is this check list I used for Oct 7th. Always better to go with more than you need. None of it is all that hard to do. The problems (and frustrations) arise when you don't have something.

just a quick aside question, i believe i can go to renew my extension anytime in the two weeks prior to the renewal date - is this correct?

At CW you can apply CW you can apply for a 1 year extension 45 days early. Most other places you can apply 30 days early.

You can apply up to 30 days before...and at some offices like CW you can apply up to 45 days before.  Usually best to apply as early as you can as that will give you the most reaction/recovery time if additional info is needed for your application.  You do not lose any extension time by apply as early as possible.  That is, if you next extension was good through 31 Jan 2020, by applying say 23 Dec 2019 if you extension is approved on 23 Dec then you next extension will be good thru 31 Jan 2021.

Absolutely, never leave it to the last minute. Personally I do mine as soon as I can, but that is more about getting it done with prior to 'peak' season, when it gets too busy.

Thank you guys. It is a good idea to go and get a number before going to the bank. CM immigration is pretty crazy and I don't want to go too late to get a number.
