‘Seven days’ death toll climbs to 317

Three hundred and seventeen people lost their lives on Thai roads in the first six of the “seven dangerous days” of the New Year holidays and more than 3,000 were injured, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported on Thursday (January 2).

Top court to give verdict on Sorayuth’s case on January 21

The Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases announced on Thursday (January 2) that it will read the Supreme Court’s ruling on January 21 on the lawsuit filed by MCOT Public Company Limited against Sorayuth Suthassanachinda and an employee of Raisom for embezzling advertisement fees estimated at over Bt138 million during 2005-2006 when the TV celebrity was hosting a popular morning news show.

Baht weakens after hitting Bt29/dollar

The Thai currency moved down to Bt 30.18/dollar this morning (December 2) after the weighted-average interbank exchange rate strengthened to Bt30.121 a dollar on December 30, a day before the New Year holidays, assistant governor of the Bank of Thailand Vachira Arromdee says.

 

The baht has retreated after passing the Bt30 mark to Bt29 level against the US dollar in the New Year period.

Starbucks sets D-Day for change to paper straws
