BANGKOK (NNT) - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chuan Leekpai, has confirmed the opposition may file two no-confidence debate motions, remarking that while the government has encouraged participation by members of parliament (MPs), it has not sought to intervene in the House.

The House Speaker said the opposition may move to hold a no-confidence debate in 2020, and it will have two opportunities to do so during the year’s two sessions. While the government maintains a majority of less than 25 seats, it still retains the ability to call for a recount of votes.

Mr. Chuan assured the public that there has been no government intervention in Parliament and that it has never made an inappropriate request. He said it has been the legislature that has issued requests for attendance by the Prime Minister and his cabinet, adding that they should avoid needless absence.

Won't amount to much, the fix is already in - isn't it Mr Chuan? Result and outcome already known so the big boys can resume their places at the trough.

Laughable really, how they masquerade as being a genuine government.

and then there was this story from December 05, via The Thaiger, SOURCE: Thai PBS World:

"Renegade fugitive MP Waipote Arpornrat escaped the notice of parliamentary police, and government MPs, when he managed to stroll in the Lower House parliamentary chamber undetected during Wednesday’s sitting. Arpornrat is a member of Palang Pracharat, the most prominent party of the ruling government coalition after jumping ship from the Pheu Thai party,

He was stripped of his MP status on September 12 but has been laying low ever since.

He was apparently there to help the government reach a quorum for a vote recount, in an effort to stall an investigation of the controversial “blank cheque” Section 44 of the 2014 interim constitution. How he was able to get into the Parliament undetected will be a source of questions by the government opposition parties.

The former red-shirt leader faces arrest under a warrant issued by the Supreme Court, for his role in disrupting the 2009 ASEAN Summit in Pattaya.

House Speaker Chuan Leekpai and Deputy PM Wissanu Krea-ngarm have said separately that police can arrest Waipote on sight, but parliament police, conveniently, missed his presence and no Government MPs reported that they saw him."

"Chuan says he didn’t chair the House session due to a doctor’s appointment, and that he was unaware of Waipote’s presence in the chamber." - this one is 3 days later, same source

Last time I used the doctor's appointment excuse was in high school...

But obviously

If the government put as much effort into running the country as they do manipulating the system,

Thailand would be in a much more positive state.

It's a bit like the Titanic saga.. doesn't matter who you are or how rich you are, when it goes down you're all going down with it!

2020 is going to prove a little tougher for the regime if the baht stays high and exporters start going to the wall, the poor will remain poor and do nothing, but when the middle upper classes start to lose their companies they will not stay quiet!

January 12 could be the catalyst for major change in this country, or then again it might not..................
