I wish more koreans would come to Thailand. Chinese, not so much.

The only cute thing about Korea is their women + that they travel more individually than Chinese. However, Korean travel groups are as annoying and respect-less as Chinese. Don`t get fooled by their proximity close to Japan. Their character is totally different!

There`s a reason why local Thai ppl avoid Chiang Mai (and starting with Chiang Rai) and prefer to visit places like Nan.

Having seen what Chinese have done and do in Cambodia and Vietnam with their resort cities, Thailand should focus on qualitative tourism...not quantitative. But that`s too complex for the brainless ppl in charge.

Yeah you're welcome to em...... The other day myself and the Mrs were walking down the road towards our place when a young lad approached us head on walking the other way, in typical fashion he gurgled up a greeny and spat right across the pair of us about six foot ahead, never even raised an eyebrow and sauntered on by........  I looked at the Mrs and we both said it at the same time........ Chinese !   If i'd been at home i'd of chinned the little sod, but of course in the land of smiles and ever increasing BS that's not possible unless you want 200 years in jail............. Murder's fine but don't try teaching savages manners.......

They said that the only way was up and that huge numbers of foreigners would be visiting in the coming years.

No no no, there's plenty of room to drop more... this rosy optimistic bilge they keep pumping out is for their own ears. If they hear it enough they will believe it!

Nothing has changed to encourage tourists to come back, everything still looks & operates in the same way it has for the last 4 decades... it's a tired worn-out record that needs serious up dating !

then why do they still to obtain visas to go to their provience - Taiwan?

Because they restrict the numbers to 14.600 a day. Hong Kong also has daily restrictions, as does Macao.

The Chinese Government has a cap on mainland visitors.

They are Bringing SARS to this Country and it’s outta control in Chinland, incorrect Figures, Beware...

That's just lies.

There's no SARS outbreak in China. A pneumonia outbreak with 44 people infected and under control has been reported in Wuhan.

Are you proud of your rabid dishonesty?

You saw his passport then?

Or you can tell Viets, from Koreans, from Japanese, from Taiwanese, from Laotians, Hong Kongers and Macaoans and Chinese can you? Talented, 65% of the world can't.

Or maybe he was whistling March of the Volunteers and the greeny was percussion?

Sheer quantity over quality is what people with little talent and no vision rely on. It makes the entire experience unpleasant for all but the Chinese and Indians, who are used to jostling with massive crowds, cutting lines. Add in horrendous air quality due to increased industry, population, and traffic. Then combine that with no effort to counter any of these issues, and an administration completely lacking in vision and competence. What do you end up with? A prefect storm. And a seriously diminished quality of life.

It's no wonder that the Thai government is making immigration restrictions more difficult for the average expat in Thailand. With all of those figures that the people running Thailand have for surely seen, they know there's a new demographic to spend their money. That being said; I wonder if they think the "new Chinese tourist" is going to be dumb enough to put up with "dual pricing" and "scams" that so many other demographics have been putting up with for so long. I have a feeling they won't. Nobody likes to feel disrespected especially on holiday, and Thailand will need to do "more" to ensure these new Chinese visitors enjoy themselves other than giving lip service.

Have you ever seen what happens when you try and rip a Chinese off?

There will be carnage. They'll soon learn. Remember what happened up in Chiang Mai about that Loi Kreung show? The details escape me but in a mob and feeling wronged they'll cause havoc.

Good point. The Chinese also have two tier pricing for foreigners. Especially some of the hotels as I have learned over the years.  I guess that most Chinese tourists visiting Thailand will come on package deals so probably won't be directly exposed to the double pricing that independent travellers are.

No, they dont. They have to display their prices. You have probably confused the refundable room deposit as an over charge. Booking/Agoda are fixed price anyway and in English.

Neither do most Chinese tourists come on tour parties any more. 60% of them are FIT's.

Didn't they say not long ago that Indians were the future for Thailand, and there assumptions that all these Chinese obtaining passports are heading to Thailand, how wrong they are, a friend of mine has just returned from Cambodia, and said the amount of hotels with casinos being built is unbelievable, and the signage already in Chinese, even the locals are saying all the buildings are for Chinese visitors, and we all know how the Chinese love gambling.

No, they say a proportion of new Chinese passport holders will come to Thailand, not all of them.

Read it again.

Last weeks news was that the Chinese were leaving Cambodia because of the ban on online gambling in Cambodia. Its hard to keep up with the conflicting news published here.

you see the Chinese doing the tourist thing, the bars and drinking at them not top of they list.spending money in 7/11 with all the little snacks they love the Chinese doing that.russians are similar  they keep to Russian places  too. they are going to Cambodia because they brought up leases  down south as we all know, building hotels for the Chinese with casinos involved and private beaches. the Chinese business man  knows what the Chinese want and Cambodia have provided this for them.the thais must realise this too, where are the casinos who owns them Chinese.just over the border from Thailand.

everyday you see thousands of thais crossing the border for 20 baht to end up at the casino for a day or night.look at Africa the chinese are doing similar but for the minerals only.

there are many more billionaires in china now than other places,so like Thailand and many other countries they are playing into  their  hand too.

This begs the question: so why don’t the ChiComs restrict their people from coming to LoS?

Good comment. Pattaya used to be like a small lovely European colony, now it's going the way of Hong Kong, to be annexed to motherland. Last lifeboat drops down in 1...2.....

Incorrect. Their life is not fine. I speak with many Thais that complain of the hardships brought on by the decimation of a once thriving tourism industry.

But comes from the ones that legged it in 47........  had a few years to gain some manners since....
