Hi all. I am wondering if it is possible to get a non-immigrant B visa from inside Thailand (ie. without having to leave) by converting from a non-immigrant O?

I am currently volunteering with a Foundation in Thailand with the non-O, obtained in Laos, which is being extended at the local immigration office (Tak) every 3 months. I also have a one year work permit through this Foundation.

If I get a working (paid) job with a company or organisation in Thailand, would it be possible to change the visa type at the local immigration office? Or would I need to leave the country and convert; or even leave the country, come back with a Tourist visa and then convert that to a non-B?

I'm a British passport holder. Thanks all for your help!

You cannot change non immigrant visa categories within the country.

You should be able to change the reason for your extension of stay based upon working as a volunteer to one based upon working for a company.

No, you can’t change the category of non-immigrant visa in-country.

If you need a Non B for a future WP or extension of stay you would need to leave and re-start the visa process.
