If Jon the chimpanzee understands that it’s better to use canvas bags than plastic ones, a lot more humans ought to be catching on.

The chimp is putting on daily shows at the Songkhla Zoo in which his caretakers hold signs saying “Let’s use a bio bag” and “Stop plastic”.

The highlight comes when Jon walks into a stage set where there are both plastic bags and canvas bags and chooses a canvas one – to the cheers and applause of the audience.

Getting the message across isn’t all serious, though.

The chimp at one point produces a plastic bottle and drinks syrup from it. Then he dances expertly to rhythmic music.

The show is in response to a Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment request for businesses in every sector to help curb plastic waste.

Not rocket science when you can see the canvas bag has food inside whereas the plastic bag is empty.

But, I guess a chimp training people not to use plastic is a step forward......

Using a beautiful creature like that in a display for the entertainment of humans, lacks ethics.

IMHO

Amusing that a chimp gets it but a lot of knuckle draggers on ThaiVisa beat their chest and stomp their feet throwing a tantrum cause there is no plastic bags to carry their big Changs home from 7/11.

whats so hard about carrying one of the 7-11 cloth bags in your pocket?. They roll up to a lovely size, carry a whole bunch of groceries, have multi uses (I sneezed in mind plus used it to wipe coconut ice cream off my facemerkin) and, with respect to the latter point, may I say that they are quite realistic looking when you carry them in the front of your shorts. Although the girls in 7-11 get wide eyed when you stick your hand into the bulge and pull out a cloth bag. So much fun!

You'd be better off directing your question to the tantrum throwing knuckle draggers cause I buy my beer by the box and its delivered to my door for free.
