I see many businesses still have their flashing Christmas lights on their trees and we are in mid Jan. Are they just clueless? I take mine down on boxing day. Whats going on in amazing thailand?

  • Uh nobody, because Christmas decorations are supposed to be taken down on 12th night (January 5th).  That's when otherwise they would turn into goblins.

  • I guess that explains why Germany is infected with evil goblins.  Had the country brought down its decorations on the correct day there's have been no Hitler or Kaiser Wilhelm, or Angela Merkel.

I think that the majority not being Christian or knowing the true meaning etc just see them as pretty decorations and nothing more. Take them down when they remember or get fed up, seems to be the norm. Our Big C still has a 20ft tree in the car park, and an eating place I was in at lunchtime still has theirs with lights etc.

they want to enjoy it as long as possible

I guess the counter question to that is why do stores in Europe put up their Christmas decorations in October?

I think a better question is why do you care?

Cuz they are uneducated outside Thailand and most times not Christian too.

Or why was I able to enjoy my first hot cross bun of the year ... about 10 days ago :coffee1:

Because they havent been taught the Western superstion that it is unlucky not to take them down. They have enough superstitious nonsense of their own. Lets not burden them with more....555.

If you don't take them down on the 12th night then it is very unlucky unless you leave them up until Easter. ????

It's not Easter yet.

Playing Christmas songs in Pizza Company today.
