China is shutting down tourist areas. Thailand isn't?

"Chinese tourism continues to be impacted by the spread of the virus.

Beijing is set to suspend all tour groups businesses, even outbound tours, from Monday, according to Global Times. It follows the closure of Shanghai’s Disneyland, and popular Sanya City shutting down all tourist sites."

I am sure a full and complete list will be available for any one to see so every one will know exactly what might be in the vaccines......And I am sure this will all be backed up by independent testing.....

the early Chinese reponse is impressive

Well yes. They did manage to cover it up quite impressively, as usual. Commies are good at that.

Percentage of Wuhan who come to Thailand since virus outbreak?....and it’s already here. I reckon the true infection rate must be way more than stated.

the good news on this is that those who have died seem to be elderly and those with weakened immune systems.

And in Bangkok. I wonder if it's crowded in Yaowarat tonight, cough cough, a place i would avoid in any case.

what you really need to avoid is touching things like escalator hand rails and subway handholds, then rubbing your eyes, and mouth, or picking at your teeth with your finger or anything that you have been touching. masks work as a reminder  to keep your hands away from your face. most of us are touching our face throughout the day without realizing it.

being in outdoor crowds is far safer then being in an office, or confined space like a restaurant, subway or coffee shop. you want that air circulation and breeze around you like a safety cushion.

the early Chinese reponse is impressive, but the efforts done by Chinese seem to indicate their scientists estimate that virus to be really *extra* dangerous.

the safety measure taken by the Chinese government seem very drastic.

That's what worries me.

You think they're overdoing it this time, to make up for mishandling SARS?

The Chinese have already messed this one up. First reporting of a new virus was 31. Dec. 2019 and they announced it as being under control.

The sudden lockdown of several cities shows that they clearly have found out, that this is way more serious. Maybe the virus has already mutated or we do not know the true facts and numbers from China. Them closing entire cities is kind of worrying.

If people can carry and transfer the virus without symptoms, then this could get really bad. In theory hundreds/thousands of Chinese tourist could be running around right now in Thailand each spreading this to 3-4 other people.  I guess the next few weeks will tell, how bad this really is.

Since Thailand is attracting the Chinese to come in as many numbers possible. We, western tourists have to come sooner or later to the crowded airport to go home and maybe bring the Thai airport virus, acquired from the attracted Chinese, home with us... Because, as in so many cases, the Thai government does nothing, just wait and see what happens...

The real test will begin after Chinese new year finishes and they all fly back to the countries they reside in...if the gestation period really is undetectable by the end of Feb it will quite possibly be the worst pandemic since Spanish flu.

What is rather concerning is the death/survival rate .. the total cases will resolve one way or the other but it currently stands at 2000 + infected 56 dead and 90 cured ( more like recovered ) if accurate that would make it around 30% mortality rate with current infected persons outcome yet to be added to the data. Spanish flu for ref was around 25% death to survival rate.

Following the announcement, all hotels in Hua Hin have been instructed to check the passports of any Chinese tourists arriving at the hotel, with staff told to immediately inform health officials if any tourists appear sick or show flu-like symptoms.

Isn't this what the government is supposed to do upon them arriving in Thailand.......???
