I think the vast majority prefer Thai, as it is familiar, they share a common language and culture, and it is more comfortable for them. Having said that, there is a small percentage that are open minded, have heard good things about foreign men from their girlfriends, and are open to the possibilities. I have been told by many that foreign men are more affectionate, more communicative (a rather mixed bag on that one), and more willing to provide them with support. Also, I often hear from them, that some foreign men are not as possessive and as jealous, and allow their women more independence. My wife has alot of independence. She tells me her girlfriends cannot believe it. Often when they go out, their boyfriends or husbands have to join. Not an option for them to go solo. It doesn't have to be second or third etc. The mother of a friend of mine raised two boys, the sons of her daughter, in the village because the daughter's (only) husband didn't want children and told her each time to have an abortion.
