Sai Mai police in northern Bangkok have announced the arrest of two boys aged 10 and 14 who used a toy gun in an attempt to rob a student outside a 7-Eleven.

The incident on Wat Koh Road on Wednesday was caught on CCTV.

The boys are cousins staying at a construction site and were frequently begging in the area. They were arrested after going to the Pracha-uthit Road in Ratburana district.

"Tom",14, admitted pointing a fake gun that he bought for 10 baht at a male student.

He said he and his cousin were hungry. They had just got 40 baht from a woman and then he pointed the gun at the stomach of the male student who ran off in terror.

"It was just a bit of fun," he told the Sai Mai police. "I didn't flee the scene. I didn't think it was such a big deal".

naughty boys ....  they don't realize how the world has changed and you can't do that anymore.

your not allowed to say anything that may hurt someone feelings, your not allowed to play with toy guns or any toy that was considered normal in the 60's 70's 7 80's.

we use to play with toy guns once and even shoot arrows at one another

Stop, a little bit. Now we should think like when they make up statistics in Thailand. US statistics made up by Washington???? Never trust a country that make up their own statistics.

However, about this boy. He should have he toy gun filed and booked up his rectum. Then maybe he understands all the fun of the situation.

Every country compiles their own statistics. Who else is going to do it?

Trying to rob somebody was never allowed.

Top prize for conclusion jumping!  Are you aware that the University of Washington is in Seattle, 3,000 miles from Washington, DC? It has nothing to do with the federal government.

And the torture you think is appropriate punishment? Knee-jerk reactionary.

So, Mr Lawrence! Take a chill pill, so that you keep the heart attack on safe distance.

About the torture. Yes, I think so. Have you ever tried to talk to a teenager that gone so far off, that they see it as funny and a joke to scare people with guns? Even if it was a toy gun? No, I didn´t think so. I have, and it didn´t work.

So, about the university. Can´t care less if it is in Washington or Seattle. That´s still the US, right. That was my point, but you seem to have missed that one completely. No worries, I have a big heart. I will find a way to forgive you. ????

Umm, both of them were born in this millennia. How could they realise or not what has changed from 40-60 years before they were born?

Thailand has the highest reported rate of gun-related deaths in Southeast Asia - almost 50 percent more gun homicides than the Philippines. With 7.48 registered violent gun deaths per 100,000 people, the rate is also twice as high as that of the US, which had 3.55 deaths per 100,000 people in 2013, according to data provided by the University of Washington's Institute for Health and Metric Evaluation.

You're on the right track boys! Dad will be proud!

Two thirds of those USA deaths were suicides. Another statistic used to suport a paticular narrative.

And then we and the world grew up. Some of us anyway. And I doubt very much that many of us used toy guns to try and rob people.

It is not about the guns, it is about the poverty and lack of housing they and millions of others are living in, and seems like no education opportunities. Poor buggers.

What they did was totally wrong, but do they know any different due to socioeconomic reasons and poor living conditions.

Lucky you live in Thailand... in some countries that would have booked your position on a table in the morgue!
