NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Thailand (Reuters) - Thousands of people holding candles attended a vigil in northeastern Thailand on Sunday for the victims of a rogue soldier who killed at least 29 people and wounded 57 before being shot dead.

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Thailand (Reuters) - A soldier angry over a property deal gone sour killed at least 29 people and wounded 57 in a rampage that spanned four locations in and around the northeastern Thai city of Nakhon Ratchasima before he was shot dead early Sunday.

SHANGHAI/BEIJING (Reuters) - China raised the death toll from its coronavirus outbreak to 811 on Sunday, passing the number killed globally by the SARS epidemic, as authorities made plans for millions of people returning to work after an extended Lunar New Year break.

Korat shooting rampage deaths rise to 30

The death toll in the Korat shooting rampage has increased to 30, while 58 people are injured, Thai PBS reported on Sunday evening.

 

The number of people dead was put at 27 when Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha held a press conference earlier in the day.

Chulalongkorn research reveals 15 biggest risks on social media

NBTC to summon journalists over coverage of Korat killings

The secretary-general of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), Takorn Tantasith, said in a Twitter message on Sunday (February 9) that the NBTC would call journalists and press after some of them broadcast live footage of officers preparing operations against the suspect who was holed up in the Terminal 21 department store.

US embassy offers deepest condolences to victims and families

The US Embassy in Thailand has expressed condolences to the victims and families injured and killed in the shootings in and around Terminal 21 shopping mall in Thailand’s north-eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, which began on Saturday night and ended with the gunman’s death early Sunday morning.

TCG to help guarantee 80,000 new SMEs this year

Mercury dips in upper Thailand, more rains in the South
