Plastic bag ban leads to trouble! Store demands 30,000 baht after Thai woman left scratches on the tiles

A furious Thai woman went on Pantip to complain after she said that a store is forcing her to pay damages for scratching some tiling.

The woman was shopping using a trolley on wheels after the plastic bag ban came in last month.

She said that initially she was charged 30,000 baht but this has now been reduced to 15,000 baht after she claimed she didn't have that kind of money.

It appears that the woman is an employee of the store and normally uses the staff entrance.

She posted that she was surprised that insurance would not cover the damage and asked what would happen if it was caused by a foreigner who could not be traced.

She also suggested that there was no signage about not using trolleys - only about dogs and not smoking.

She appeared to be using Pantip to try and raise money to pay her "fine" after she claimed she was "forced to sign a paper".

Sanook reported that hundreds of tiles had to be polished and 216 needed replacing.

The store concerned was not named as is customary in Thailand.

Dont worry Mrs Xenaphobe all farang are tracaeble im sure. The mentality to bring that up as an excuse is just extraordinary to me.

  • Since when trolleys on wheels can scratch tiles ? And if it was scratching , any reason why she was not stopped before damaging 216 tiles?

  • No women allowed in this store in 4" spiked heals please. They'll sink into the cheap tiles and leave many divets.

In reality the repair will cost them less than 5000 and it's very likely they won't even do it. They're likely just throwing around numbers without any base for it.

I'm curious what was actually scratching the floor, there must have been a sharp metal piece under there to leave this kind of mark. The tiles are obviously made of a soft material and I would even say it's their fault for using such a soft material when they know it will be put under a lot of stress. People are constantly walking on this thing with pebbles stuck in their soles and scratching the sh** out of it at every moment.

Some comments in the pantip thread suggest that she should not pay anything unless required to by a court which is a reasonable suggestion.

Also no  signs  telling her  to  lift the seat before  having a  dump!

trolls must pay

I guess her trolly wheels were not made of plastic, which is good because we all know now plastic is bad.....

She’s an employee, they will just deduct her wages. If it was a random person, they could tell the employee who stopped them to go suck a D and walk away.

We'd have been charged 100k instead

I call b/s ... wheels on a shopping trolley are plastic and will not "scratch" although they might leave marks which can easily be polished away during a normal cleaning session.

One of these days those who are in denial of the extreme xenophobia here will wake up.

i will not believe the damage until i see someone pointing at it

Should be asking trolley maker ,it might be a foreign company

I got bitten by the dog (bangkew) in the owners shop...he said mai pen lai....later i told him about the costs i had to make for the injections...again he said mai pan lai.....so kind those thai people!

Because Thai like to blame them for everything....remember that foreigner who had to pay 100.000 baht (or was it 20k?) because his son accidently pushed over a showmodel tailors dummy in H&M Thailand? The arm broke off when it fell and the farang had to pay for that.

Probably since her wheels broke off years ago and she's been "dragging' it everywhere since on the metal brackets!!!!

A bit like "my tyres are gone" but hey, I'll just drive on the hubs!

<deleted>ty floor and the lady must have been on a sightseeing tour in the very shop she is apparently working on. This story does not tally and is bo11ocks; next please ????

She'd obviously off her trolly.

I believe this is a fake story story and this woman wants to get some money for herself with er plea on Pantip.

Usually I side with the defendant....when she raises what if a foreigner?

too bad lady....couldn’t you see you were damaging tiles in your romp around the store?

it’s called accountability...

Literally everything is packaged in disposable plastic containers. The locals treat their country like a garbage bin and incinerator, but no let's focus on those evil plastic bags. It their fault! ????

As per my Wife apparently the flooring is vinyl not ceramic tiles which we all know is soft, can be easily scratched, scuffed by shoes and anything heavy will leave indentations. The owner obviously knows this and is taking advantage of the Employee. Without knowing the area size I'm sure the charge of 30k or even 15k is more than enough to replace the vinyl with ceramic tiles.

Obviously untrue. I was hoping it might explain why some of our stores have resumed offering plastic bags.

Its a deflection tactic, commonly used by xenophobic lefty racists..besides, all foreigners are bad, you must know that
