Estrada
The cruise ship has docked and the passengers will be allowed to disembark subject to the same health checks as per the airports, and will then fly back to their home countries.

That's correct of course yes - so why all the hullabaloo ? Probably because, as usual, the public is not being given the full story which is not unusual, in fact it's the norm. How often do politicians tell the truth to the presstitutes ?

Sorry, disregard due to wrong fact tweeted by a reporter of post from owners. Prayut said he will help supply humanitarian aid. The Westerdam has now become a Leper Ship. Spare a thought for the 700+ crew: Deck Department (Quartermasters, bo'suns/petty officers, tender drivers, sailors, etc.) are mainly Indonesian and Filipino. Engineering has a lot of Dutchmen and Brits. Cruise Staff are American, Canadian, Dutch and South African, Restaurants have mostly Eastern European i.e. Hungarian (manager + servers), Romanian and Indonesian servers but also Dutch (manager + servers), Belgian (manager), Canadian (chef), German (chef). Show cast is usually American but also had Canadians and Brits.

Ajarnbrian
How are the passengers on this cruise ship more likely to be infectious than those on planes arriving from China? I guess it is OK if you are making money from them.

Derek B
Stopping direct flights with China is a far more important practical action than wearing a face mask and if not taken then direct flights with Thailand could be enacted by other countries. Land border crossing with China by Thailand's neighbours should be closed too.

This ship was only meant to visit China, S. Korea, Taiwan, and then Japan. After the coronavirus hit, no country on their itinerary would let them dock as last port of call was in China. This ship has been sailing the seas like a proverbial plague ship, looking for anywhere that would let them dock. In this instance, I think the Thai govt. doesn't owe them anything, and has done the right thing. Absolutely. I will criticise things that need mentioning, but this does not warrant it. You just know had Thailand allowed the ship to dock, a lot of the posters would be saying how dangerous it is and why Thailand wasn't following other country's decision in denying it. They may have read your brilliant comments. Cambodia has approved the ship to dock at their port in Sihanoukville. Passengers will intransit via Phonm Penh international airport to fly home. i bet Cambodia is lying about having only one case COID-19. Probably no testing being done and death is labeled as pneumonia. They’re trying to appease China, if and when this mess is over China will be too broken to flex its muscles.
