webfact Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Upper Thailand gets colder by 1-2 °C, more thundershowers in the South By THE NATION The Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Wednesday (February 12) that the westerly trough is moving to the North and the Northeast while the high-pressure system over the Northeast and the South China Sea is weakening. Cool to cold weather is likely in the North and the Northeast with the mercury dipping by 1-2 degrees Celsius in the North. The department also mentioned the strong easterly winds across the Gulf bringing more rain in the South. Outbreaks of thundershowers with stronger winds will be observed in the lower south from Nakhon Si Thammarat with waves 2-3 metres high. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats have been advised to keep ashore. The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows: Northern region: Cool to cold weather, temperature lows of 14-21°C and highs of 33-37°C. Temperature likely to drop to 3-12°C on hilltops. Northeastern region: Cool to cold weather with fog in the morning; temperatures lows of 20-23°C and highs of 32-35°C. Temperature likely to drop to 8-15°C on hilltops. Central region: Cool weather with fog in the morning; temperature lows of 23-24°C, highs of 34-37°C. Eastern region: Mostly cloudy with isolated rains in some areas; lows of 23-26°C and highs of 33-36°C; waves 1-2 metres high. Southern region (east coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the area; lows of 24-26°C, highs 30-34°C; waves 2-3 metres high. Southern region (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the area; lows of 23-25°C, highs of 32-35°C; waves1-2 metres high. Bangkok and surrounding areas: Mostly cloudy with fog in the morning; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 34-37°C.
