SET falls in wake of spike in coronavirus cases in China

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) closed at 1,526.30 today (February 14) , down 6.47 points ( 0.42 per cent) from Thursday's, due to heightned concerns following a sharp rise in new coronavirus cases in China.

 

 

The index moved between 1,524.15 and 1,540.46 with a total trade volume of Bt61.83 billion.

 

Krungsri Securities had predicted that the SET index would move between 1,525 and 1,540 in view of the coronavirus development. 

 

Elsewhere in Asia, Japan’s Nikkei index closed at 23,687.59, down 140.14 points, or 0.59 per cent.

 

China’s Shanghai SE Composite index closed at 2,917.01, up 10.93 points, or 0.38 per cent, while Shenzhen SE Component index closed at 10,916.31, up 51.99 points, or 0.48 per cent.

 

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index closed at 27,815.60, up 85.60 points, or 0.31 per cent.

South Korea’s KOSPI index closed at 2,243.59, up 10.63 points, or 0.48 per cent.

 

Taiwan’s TAIEX index closed at 11,815.70, up 23.92 points, or 0.20 per cent.
