Doi Pui Tourist Village deserted ......

This is a popular spot with tourists in Chiang Mai. I was up there at lunchtime today, and hardly any tourists at all, shops all empty.

I've never seen it this empty, usually full of cars and Songtaws trying to get in or out, and people milling around.

I was quite surprised.

I am not sure that photo was taken today.  You can't see the clouds because of the smog now.. and the sky is grey / brown.  Maybe it was better at higher elevation?    If so, and it was indeed very quiet... I might escape up there tomorrow for some clean air and relaxation.

a car park cum rip-off shopping area is a ... village ?

~o:37;

I bought fried pork and sticky rice from a stall, hardly a rip-off at 25bht, it did me for lunch.

There's a decent Kao Soy restaurant as well.

Quite nice gardens with lots of pretty flowers for an entrance fee of 10bht.

I always thought everything was very reasonably priced.

The air quality was a lot better than in town, despite the smoggy views, and it was surprisingly cool.

.....enter the garden and give the secret handshake to the attendant and he'll go fetch you a bag of dirt-weed...also reasonably priced.
