How sweet to be so naive.

Nah he works here and he has rules to follow it's part of his job.

Im surprised it's taken this long for some to get infected or are they not telling us?

  • Yes, isn´t it funny that more people that return home from Thailand have COVID19, than cases in Thailand? It just must be a very lucky country.

Tracy Daszkiewicz, Director of Public Health for Wiltshire Council, said: "I can confirm that a fourth adult in Wiltshire has tested positive for coronavirus after returning from a trip to Thailand, and they have self-isolated. This means we still only have four cases of coronavirus in Wiltshire.

Two new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Queensland.

The first case is an 81-year-old male who is in a stable condition in the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. He has recently returned from Thailand.

Remind me again - how many cases here ...

Tick Tock numbers being found with travellers coming from Thailand increasing at a more exponential rate than the confirmed cases in Thailand. Just this last week we have had a confirmed case in Australia, one in India, one who made a runner when being detained on arrival in Zimbabwe and now this one in the UK.

Contact does not necessarily equate to transmission

Problem could be asymtomatic spreaders travelling to other centres and countries

So far Thailand cannot be faulted, considering the location, and number of Chinese here at begining of outbreak Thailand is doing great. They are way way down on the list, and vast majority came all at once in very begining. Yeah, Thailand doing well.

Nah, that´s just the whole point that you obviously missed. That information is out of unknown reason missing.

Just think like this. Thailand was from start pointed out to be the most vulnerable country outside China, due to it´s big connection with China.

After that it is suddenly more people that are dying in a lot of other countries more far away and with much smaller connection to Chinese people. Doesn´t that make you wonder?

Might have to do with the weather, a lot warmer here than in China, South Korea and North Italy at the moment.

sorry no.  just the people who leaked the story.

Then they will be sterilised whilst in solitary quarantine.

Yes, isn´t it funny that more people that return home from Thailand have COVID19, than cases in Thailand? It just must be a very lucky country.

On the other hand, maybe some have issues comprehending what asymptomatic transmission entails and the varying medical estimates relating to Covid-19 incubation and related quarantine that have been universally ballparked at 14-days for the best part of two months already. That and the fact they regardless of what any country has done up until now, this will keep spreading.

But yes, this is a Thai forum so I can see why those here that are either scared or have no viable backup plan tend to lash out at what they see as local incompetence.

Then again it might not.Malaysia has 2 times as many cases as Thailand and Singapore has 3 times as many cases.

Here we go...............

Six new patients, along with an immigration officer and an airport worker, tested positive for the novel strain of coronavirus, health officials said.

The new patients include a 21-year-old immigration officer, a 40-year-old man working at Suvarnabhumi Airport, according to Department of Disease Control Sophon Iamsirithawon, bringing the total cases of infection in Thailand to 59.

A 25-year-old man office worker, a 27-year-old woman returning from South Korea, a 40-year-old man returning from Japan, and a 36-year-old Singaporean restaurant owner were also found to have the virus.

Singapore is colder than Thailand. Don't know about the controls in Malaysia.

They finally got to number 51, eh.

Maybe why immigration yesterday were all wearing masks and gloves.

Look at any of the global tracking maps on the internet. Temperature and climate doesn't seem to matter.

Average Bangkok temp for Febuary is 32 degrees and for Singapore it's 33 degrees.

Well, I hope this will make then understand the lie that wearing a face mask will protect the wearer from disease.

This idiotic notion that is so prevalent amongst the lemmings here deserves to be squashed once and for all.

NOTE WELL - the only reason a mask is worn by medical personnel is to stop THEM infecting anyone round them and NOT THE REVERSE!

Wearing a mask such as those so popular in Thailand CANNOT stop a person becoming infected with anything - coronavirus, measles, a cold, whatever - the wearer will NOT be protected against any air-borne diseases unless it's part of a military or hazmat grade protective get up or they are in a vacuum.

Yes, and in warmer climate the virus, bacteria and infections are generally spreading faster. Yeah, of course, if you do not think we have reached the heat temeprature that is equal to sterilization. :cheesy::crazy:

Well the use of masks by Immigration officials makes sense because they are vulnerable to infection and may well be infected without knowing as in this case so to help prevent further spread the use of masks by the IO's is well and truly warranted. In fact as A-Nut-in said none of us would know if we are infected so wearing a mask may well help slow the spread of this disease.

So, let's say he got it in immigration from a passport, then gave it to the next passport, the next , the next, good luck tracing them all

He will have probably recorded each passport in his computer so if the TM30 rule is followed then tracking should not be a problem.

This doesn’t surprise me at all. I left on Sunday for CNX, barely any gel to be found at Suvarnabhumi. At CNX no gel anywhere on arrival and the same on departure. Obviously this was through domestic but on an international trip a couple of weeks ago I had a very similar experience.

I would hope that at least the finger scanners are cleaned after every passenger and that disinfectant gel is available at every counter.

From the OP:

According to (Dr.) Pichaya, the staff who works at the outgoing passenger screening checkpoint is now in quarantine at the hospital.

He is listed by the Thai government as having the virus.
