Thai woman nabbed in 90 million cannabis haul in Taiwan
In a dramatic drug bust at Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport, a 24 year old Hong Kong Airlines worker and a 62 year old Thai woman were caught with over 45 kilogrammes of cannabis, worth an eye-watering 90 million Taiwanese dollars (approximately 94 million baht). The joint operation by Taiwan’s customs officials and the Aviation Police on April 18 uncovered the stash hidden in their checked luggage, thwarting their plan to smuggle the massive haul into Hong Kong. The suspects, identified as Chan, a ground staff member for Hong Kong Airlines, and a Thai national, surnamed Khuibut, were apprehended just before boarding their flight. Chan claimed innocence, saying he had been offered a free trip to Thailand by a mysterious friend who asked to use his baggage allowance for the return journey. He insisted he had no idea the luggage was filled with cannabis. Customs officers, however, were far from convinced. The X-ray images flagged suspicious items in four pieces of luggage from an EVA Air flight arriving from Bangkok. Upon inspection, officers were shocked to find the suitcases packed with cannabis, split evenly between Chan’s and Khuibut’s bags—22.655 kilogrammes each. A spokesperson from the Aviation Police’s detective unit cast doubt on Chan’s claim of ignorance. “As an airline employee, he would be fully aware of the legal ramifications of transporting narcotics.” Despite his supposed innocence, Chan and his accomplice are now being prosecuted under Taiwan’s Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act. The Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office announced this breakthrough after nearly five months of investigation, with both suspects now in custody and facing serious charges, reported Dimsum Daily HK. Advice me on car window tint
I can never recall the actual documentation - however, it is my understand that law exist limiting tint 'strengths'.... It a tint should not block more than 30% if the visible light spectrum. i.e. it allows at least 70% of visible light through the tint. Different 'tint' manufactures confuse the issue with their numbering - i.e. Manufacturer A will have a tint numbered at 30 (blocking 30% light), meanwhile another Manufacturer will have the same strength tint number at 70 (allowing 70% light through) so care is needed when chosing a tint. Tint has a significant impact on night time visibility, this is exacerbated by idiots riding motorcycles without lights etc... I have 30% Tint (i.e. block 30% of light) I would not go more extreme than that. Another facet - is that some tints have 'minerals' in them which have better UV and heat reflective properties while still allowing visible light through - So quality of tint also matters a lot, its not solely down to visible light. -

Oh I realise how popular Churchill is. It's understandable, he's had an amazing life, an interesting character, a witty mind, and he was courageous. This is all true. However, it is also true that Churchill was a greater racist than most Nazis, argued for gas warfare, experimented on bombing civilians in the middle East in the 20s., and made the world endure war which, in the West, could have ended in 1940. "I cannot understand this squeamishness about the use of gas," he wrote in a memo, external during his role as minister for war and air in 1919. "I am strongly in favour of using poisoned gas against uncivilised tribes," he continued. "People sometimes question why on Earth did people not listen to Churchill's warnings about Hitler in the late 1930s," says Charmley, "to which the short answer is that he'd used exactly the same language about Gandhi in the early 1930s." "Churchill was very much on the far right of British politics over India," says Charmley. "Even to most Conservatives, let alone Liberals and Labour, Churchill's views on India between 1929 and 1939 were quite abhorrent." Despite supporting Zionism, Churchill was also anti-semitic: A 1937 unpublished article - supposedly by Churchill - entitled "How the Jews Can Combat Persecution" was discovered in 2007. Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia [rabies] in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. It was the other way around, I was afraid to take it with me for a 10day visa run to Phnom Penh, so i bought 250ml there and took the remainder back as I was not risking anything. Before the flight back I found this section of rules for liquids on AirAsia 's website. -

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra firmly believes that the government’s policy, particularly the digital wallet handout programme, will act as a significant catalyst to regenerate the flailing economy of Thailand. This policy will be officially presented to Parliament over two days, starting tomorrow, as mandated by the constitution, before the government can begin its work. The 38 year old Paetongtarn plans to deliver an overarching view of the government’s policy, while Cabinet ministers will provide specifics on their respective areas of responsibility. She emphasised the importance of the digital wallet programme, noting its role in economic stimulation. “The digital wallet programme will become clear after the policy statement. I will provide an overall picture while the finance minister will explain the details. The digital wallet programme aims to stimulate the economy. If such a stimulus is still not enough, we are ready to restructure the economy to become a digital one.” She clarified that the digital wallet is just one of several economic stimulus policies but acknowledged it as the primary one for immediate economic impact. Addressing concerns about the plan to split the 10,000-baht (US$300) payment into two parts, she argued for the need to adjust the system to ensure prompt disbursement. “It will take some time to install the digital wallet system, but people cannot wait, so we need to make adjustments to ensure they receive the money as quickly as possible. The payments will be made in phases. Payments in tranches, along with other economic stimulus measures, will help boost the economy.” The government has committed to distributing 145 billion baht (US$4.3 billion) in cash through the digital wallet programme to vulnerable groups and state welfare cardholders starting tomorrow. Those already registered via the Tang Rat application will receive 5,000 baht (US$150) by the end of this year, with the remaining half coming in digital currency next year if the digital wallet system is not fully operational. Digital wallet This scheme is central to the government’s strategy to revitalise Southeast Asia’s second-largest economy, which grew by 2.3% in the second quarter. A recent change in government following the court’s removal of Srettha Thavisin as premier has created uncertainty regarding the commencement of these stimulus measures. Paetongtarn, Srettha’s successor, confirmed last week that part of the handout would now be given in cash. Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai verified that the digital wallet handout scheme would be presented for Cabinet approval tomorrow. The revised government figures indicate that the 450 billion baht (US$13 billion) required for the scheme will be sourced from the budgets for fiscal years 2024 and 2025. Approximately 140 billion baht (US$4 billion) will come from the fiscal year 2024, with about 23 billion baht (US$683 million) from the central budget and 122 billion baht (US$3.6 billion) from the additional budget for that year. A supplementary bill to increase the current fiscal year’s budget by 122 billion baht (US$3.6 billion) to partially fund the scheme has already been passed by Parliament. Additionally, around 187 billion baht (US$5.5 billion) of the 450 billion baht (US$13 billion) will come from the 2025 central budget, leaving the scheme still about 117 billion baht (US$3.5 billion) short. Wanwichit Boonprong, a political science lecturer at Rangsit University, noted that Paetongtarn’s policy largely continues the previous administration’s initiatives. He pointed out that several policies of the new government appear to be inspired by former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s statements at a recent local forum, reported Bangkok Post. Lost is lost. And he will be lucky to get another one. Any time he doesn't like the terms of the debate or the options he can simply walk away as you suggested, but he didn't and he won't.
