snoop1130
Suvarnabhumi Airport ‘ready’ if virus situation enters third phase By The Nation The Emergency Operation Centre at Suvarnabhumi Airport is ready if the Covid-19 situation deteriorates to the third phase, the centre said. According to a report, the airport saw 726 flights and 79,899 passengers on March 15 – 33 per cent and 60 per cent lower, respectively, compared to the same period last year – and only one person showed symptoms of coronavirus infection. Deputy director Kittipong Kittikachorn said the number was the lowest in 14 years, but he confirmed the airport was ready if the situation got any worse. Meanwhile, the Department of Disease Control delivered face masks to airport officers today (March 16) in “sufficient numbers”. Regarding the government taking the extreme step of shutting down the country, the centre said the private sector can only wait for a decision, if any, from the prime minister and the Cabinet. Thailand should immediately put a travel ban from Europe and USA, the coutries where it is oout of control and are unable to contain it. That is the only way to save Thai lives. India was wise enough to put a travel ban before it exploded in Europe and contain it or slow the growth. 2

4MyEgo
Um, has anyone told this clowns that the horse has already bolted as it did all over the world, all they have to do is sit back and look at the spread that they created because of their inabilities to understand simple logic. Personally I am not the vindictive type, but I would like to see this virus starting at the top, you know where these guys make these decisions. What about when it was only China that was infected and Thailand had its doors fully open...????

Bangkok Barry
When I returned to Thailand at the beginning of the month, the only busy area of immigration was the place where hoards of Chinese were getting their VOA. No effort at all has been made by the Thai government to stop people arriving from the most dangerous country on Earth. Having said that, this is a flu-like illness that almost everyone recovers from in a few days. The economic fallout and probable social consequences are going to be far worse than the virus itself.

In fact, you may get your wish, because this virus kills very few people under 60 years old, and aren't the guys at the top way over this age? 1

It would be interesting to know the death rate for patients with the 'common' flu each year. Maybe this outbreak is no worse than any other flu strain we have had? eg Bird, Asian or what else the strains were named!
