Stay home or face lockdown – supreme commander

Featured Replies

Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Gen. Pornpipat Benyasri today issued a stern warning to all Thai people to stay home and to practice strict social distancing to avoid exposing themselves to the coronavirus or risk facing a full lockdown of the country.

So foreigners are free to do as they please in another words.

How about you tell that to Thai Immigration, Buddy????

  • In other words , there is going to be a lockdown and they are saying this to justify it.

  • In a rational world, it would not be the army's place to make these sort of statements of course. Everything wrong with Thailand politically captured in this (well, almost everything).

Good point. The happy chap at the bottom of the escalator at Big C yesterday showed me the 35 on his temperature thingmie that indicated I had borderline hypothermia.

"OK!"

he was inside wasn't he in an airconditioned building, you should have sent him outside into the 36 degree heat in direct sunlight and how cold he is then

I'm just wondering if my hunch was right and there is a spat between the army chief and Prayut - this looks to me like the army chief has been sidelined but then I could be totally wrong ....................who knows

I do hope so.

It is  a  "3 in 1"  solution.

No travel, no polluting  vehicles, no spread  virus.

Be happy. ????

Can I hire your workers to work on my visa extension please?

Do farmers have to socially distance themselves from their cows?

Not if they have a "fit to fly" certificate.Sorry I think that's for the pigs!

Covid-19 or not Covid-19, the seats in a car or a pickup remain the same.
I don't see how to get away from my passenger ; generally it is me who drives my pickup .
ditto on the rear seats

Children under 5? Have I missed something?

Yes,  the large group of children over 5 with no upper number designated.

I'm 72. During my 6 K run this morning at 5 am I met, maskless, another group of five runners, not socially distancing, three farmers with cows, and a guy on a motorbike (same guy twice). This routine won't be changing soon.

The devil is in the details. I think it's important to know if the cows were practicing social distancing from the cow herders.  And how many cows?  It's been said that there should be no more than 20 cows in a herd, so I heard.  ????

went to Makro Ban Phe this afternoon, notice on door everyone must wear a face mask - about 50% did. nobody is supposed to leave Bangkok - Ban Phe and the beach have lots of Bangkok number plates touring.  I will say I have never seen Ban Phe with so little traffic (no tourist buses) but there are still some Thai tourists here.

We are required by law to report to immigration. That's my story and I'm sticking to it ????

Why are the military involved in clearly a civil matter?

The Government has issued a decree and as such the Military is an arm of the Government and has been tasked along with the RTP to ensure things are orderly....but then what do I know

outdoor skin surface temp reading doesn't work it will show most people outside in direct sunlight as having a high temperature of 40c or more so the screening is flawed

Outdoor in the sun is vastly different from indoor

Coming back from Myanmar to Kanchanaburi at Phuu Nam Ron border last month, we had walked the last 150 metres in the sun after being dropped off by the guide. When we reached Thai Immigration we got zapped with the thermometer and both registered about 38.5c. The answer? Stand under the fan in the shade for 5 minutes to cool down. Zapped again and then allowed to pass.

Welcome to the world . Many places in the world face lockdown , some softer some harder . And yes , that means also military on the street in some places . All places now you can buy food , but you could be restricted where you go buy them ( as is , not far from home ) . The more people keep themselves on the rules , the slower the rise in nrs will be , and no more strict lockdown is needed . If nrs rise further and further fast , then the screws are going to be turned harder .

Herd immunity?

Every passenger has to make sure that he or she wears a surgical mask and that there is enough space between them.

This will be interesting for the motor bike people, will it stop 3 on a bike?

From what I have watched on the news and read about, The Government will be having a Blue Flag convoy, of course government sponsored and government prices, driving to your locations and selling specific items so that you do not need to leave your building, except to go out to pick up whats  needed, but of course just the basic necessities.

The Ministry of Commerce has launched a caravan of Blue Flag vehicles to sell and deliver numerous consumer products at affordable prices right to people’s homes. The Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister, Jurin Laksanawisit, said today that 200 Blue Flag vehicles are involved initially. They will travel to communities in Bangkok and neighboring provinces. Their sales will be assessed daily. Other vehicles will be added, if there is high demand. The Blue Flag grocery trucks will ensure that the market situation remains stable. At present, many vendors are selling their products online and offering a delivery service.

So really no need to go out
