Then hot buttered toasts for breakfast, please Quiz: What does how you eat your toast say about your personality ...

I don't know if our German bakers can reach the heights of British artisan toast manufacturing, or indeed if we can find salted butter, but we can probably source some Waitrose crumpets through contacts with Tops.

Then again Boris looks like the chap who won't settle for anything less than a full British breakfast.

We'll probably have to improvise...

Do point out the "lie" , otherwise YOU are the one being dishonest by making a false allegation

Surely that's obvious, he told that poor girl he was washing his hands religiously for 20 seconds.

Next thing you know he's down with coronavirus.

I mean come on! Wake up and smell the roses!

hopefully they'll manage to keep him on his feet and the Head of Johnson upright / repair him

if he, however, should go down, not necessarily ascend, but being unable to work;

is there a fixed deputy PM that steps in or does that role vary from occ to occ?

So why did he tell that poor girl to wash her hands then, if it's pointless anyway?

So he lied about efficacy of handwashing? Is there no end to this man's deception?

Actually you are right, that's a good point.

But perhaps we can do a deal, we can swap access to British fishing waters and a 30% Herring quota for treatment in one of the finest German hospitals, with private room and TV so he can watch the Proms. On an expedited basis.

Obviously he would have to get out by 31 December, deal or no deal.....

????

Do you really like Herring so much to be prepared to make that sacrifice????????  ….. think even if it would go the wrong way …. they would blame the Germans once more ….. ????

Or maybe all this is his own setup to disappear to the background  …. just like that other tory ….Cameron …. almost all forget about him , excellent strategy to vanish before the big failure....????

Dominic Raab.

right,

is that on the basis of a Cons party/Tory decision or a BJ decision after he became PM?

is it formally OKed by the queen or is it merely a BJ-Raab arrangement?

No 10 claims it missed deadline for EU ventilator scheme

Government clarifies position after critics accuse Boris Johnson of putting ‘Brexit over breathing’

Downing Street has claimed it failed to take part in an EU scheme to source life-saving ventilators to treat coronavirus because it accidentally missed the deadline.

No 10 initially said it did not take part because the UK was “no longer a member” and was “making our own efforts”.

The EU scheme appears to have let down the citizens of Italy. An Italian Mayor has now taken down the EU flag and replaced it with the Russian flag who flew in 5 planeloads of aid to help coronavirus sufferers. Italy will not forget the apathy that the EU has shown them, interesting times ahead.

Whiteout any doubt you could be right about the points you pull on by this about Italy .Italy had always a big number of communist voters in the past .., and  the Russians are not forgetting that …. and I find their help a nice gesture .

Interesting times indeed

I just put by this posting  the attention to the irony fact that : No 10 initially said it did not take part because the UK was “no longer a member” and was “making our own efforts”.

That's shocking incompetence. It's particularly surreal that they first claim they did it deliberately because they're pursuing their own efforts, but then said they'd participate next time. Little Englander ideology getting in the way of saving lives or shocking incompetence, hard to say which is worse.

It's not the only thing the NHS is short off, though, even basic protection equipment was pleaded for on Twitter by the NHS after the government failed to deliver:

"Last week, trust procurement leads described a “completely chaotic” response from central government and national procurement body NHS Supply Chain, as many providers reported problems receiving deliveries. The situation continued into the weekend, with some trusts reporting delayed deliveries of both PPE and “business as usual” stock.

The Health Care Supply Association tweeted: “If any DIY stores want to help at this time then donating supplies of visors and glasses will greatly help NHS staff. “We have trusts who for various reasons are running short. Contact your local trust and ask for the Supplies or Procurement Department-thanks.”

Can you imagine the German health service tweeting for help and begging for materials from OBI? Surreal.

No I am sure calling him Prime Minister will suffice, after all that is what he is. Maybe you would prefer living in a communist state where everybody is equal, unfortunately even in a communist state some communists are more equal than others.

To suggest that our PM should not get preferential treatment defies all logic.

There is zero logic in that, if Bojo departed tomorrow it wouldn’t make a blind bit of difference to anyone so explain this preferential treatment bit please

What I am saying that the country needs a leader that can lead, can you not see that. Boris being fit and well will help the nation get back on its feet. No more of these hypothetical analogies please.

Your children and my children may be special to us, but that is where it ends.

What comes after delusion ?

The main question of course is did he go to the front of the line to be tested...or like Prince Charles, patiently wait his turn like an common person.

This question seems to be of utmost importance in this part of the world...

NHS staff went to him in his home - no queueing in A&E for bojo - we’re all in this together and all that ????

When this crisis is over the Tories are going to deliver a socialism that Corbyn could only have dreamed of before the crisis. Nationalisation, massive funding for the NHS and a huge statist approach to service delivery that we haven't seen since the war. Either the rich accept a huge redistribution of wealth back to the working classes or face extinction. In the Uk we like evolution not revolution Thailand I'm not so sure. The bankers, Branston and their ilk will find that hands out for bailouts is not a good look as ordinary people try to get back to normal and rebuild their lives. Turns out there's not just a magic money tree but a bleedin magic money forest....a National Government beckons - bring it on.

As I write, Rishi Sunak still leads the National Government.  Some point to the injustice of events: after all, he was no less implicated by them than Johnson.  But that’s politics, isn’t it?  Keir Starmer is Deputy Prime Minister.  Ed Davey, Communities Secretary.
