U.N. nuclear agency sending coronavirus testing gear to 40 countries, including Thailand

VIENNA (Reuters) - The U.N. atomic agency is sending an initial batch of equipment to about 40 countries with which they will be able to perform a standard test for the coronavirus involving a technique derived from nuclear science, it said on Wednesday.

Phuket cuts opening hours of convenience stores, stops bike rental businesses

Phuket has shut down motorcycle rental businesses in the province, and restricted the opening hours of 24-hour convenience stores. The order was issued by the Phuket Communicable Disease Committee on Wednesday (April 1).

MANILA (Reuters) - Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has warned violators of coronavirus lockdown measures they could be shot for causing trouble and said abuse of medical workers was a serious crime that would not be tolerated.

Mahasarakham orders shops closed at night

The Northeast province of Mahasarakham on Thursday (April 2) tightened restrictions aimed at halting the spread of deadly Covid-19 virus. The clampdown came a day after Governor Kiatisak Chanthra ordered at-risk businesses and venues to close during nighttime hours until April 20 (8am).

New locally produced Covid-19 test kits to be distributed soon

Two Bangkok hotels ready to house recovering Covid-19 patients

The Public Health Ministry urged Bangkok hotels on Thursday (April 2) to make room for Covid-19 patients who are close to recovery. Deputy Public Health Minister Satit Pitutecha said the ministry is seeking alternative accommodation for recovering patients because hospitals are fast running out of beds due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases.

HAGATNA, Guam (Reuters) - About 1,000 sailors from the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt - roughly a fifth of its crew - were under quarantine at a U.S. naval base on Guam on Thursday as the Navy sought to control a coronavirus outbreak aboard the warship.
