Looking For Retail Shirataka Noodles (konnyaku)

Featured Replies

To all you foodies out there ...

I'm looking for shirataka noodles (also known as konnyaku in Japan) in CM.

These noodles may be known as sen-buk (เส้นบุก) in Thailand. Although none of the Thai cooks I've asked know about it, S&P offers some เส้นบุก dishes on it's "healthy" menu.

Rather than rice, bean or egg noodles, they are made from konjac. High fiber and low calorie, they are considered "heart healthy" and go well in a pad-thai with a cold Chang. (yes, large)

Have you seen the Japanese specialty shop in Chiang Mai Land ? Not advertised at all and the sign - whatever the name is - is not so prominent. But if you enter CM Land from the Super Hwy and turn left into it, it's up ahead about 1-2 blocks on your left. Maybe even best to get out and walk CM Land. I'm thinking it's pretty much diaganol with Kingdom Books or whatever the Christian bookstore is there, pretty much in the middle of the strip.

THey have all kinds fo things including pickels and noodles you just can't find wanywhere else in the city. Limited choices but some Japanese essential if you're gonna do up a big Japanese theme meal or party. Prices pretty good too.

Let us know the name is you go sleith it out. I haven't been in a year now, that's why I'm so precisely vague in the directions and name.

It's called Station, and is a major supplier to Japanese restaurants and places like Rimping etc.
