is the Thai som oh equivalent to grapefruit in terms of medication interaction ?

I presume you're thinking of the effect of grapefruit upon statins.  Pomelo is believed to interact similarly - at least from animal studies.  Note, however, that some statins (e.g. fluvastatin, pravastatin, rosuvastatin) are unaffected by grapefruit and (presumably) pomelo.  Unfortunately, these statins are much more expensive than the older ones which are affected by citrus.

and it's not just statins...affects other medications too. I love SOM-O...but limit my snacks to one slice
