Obviously knows that Thai people are so exceptional, they have the ability to live on thin air. What an incredibly dumb thing to say to people who are broke and starving.

  • Rules dont work in Thailand they could not even enforce the beach chair problem. So opening bars is asking for trouble. Keeping them closed is the best thing because they wont enforce it or listen to

  • Still he is spot on about bars and so on being a danger and resulting in spreading things fast so those should indeed be the last to open.

Why, with new infections of only 30/day surely some restrictions an be eased, and focus moved to testing, tracking and contact tracing. At some point restarting the economy will be more important... else there will be more than 30 deaths/day from suicide and crime!

only 0.14%/per 1 million of the population is being tested.

From what ive heard the check is just a cursory glance at a persons paperwork.

Yea I mean bars won't be able to handle social distancing.. i mean sound and people wanting to talk .. and much more with the girls. Social distancing just wont work in bars and many other venues.

Impossible to keep 1 mtr apart in a crowded bar and  away from a pretty who hasn't worked for 3 months.

So many bars are empty or half empty I don't see opening bars being a problem just include rules if necessary

Once the bars are open it will be a free-for-all, owners will just want to make money, do you really think people will follow any rules.

ie social distancing in bars.. how exactly, one person per table...  dream on?

Love how he uses not opening a bar as a result of social distancing which is understandable however, has he seen the food queues?

if he is a leading covid 19 specialist he is not Thai all we have here is bumbling idiots we are locked down in the provinces with no good reason other than the bureaucrats looking for their 15 minutes in the sun.

Great news - all you "alcofrolics" will have to wait much longer before you can clear the cobwebs from your favorite bar stool!!

Might not be the best way to attract western tourists for vacation and holiday.

I came through one of the checkpoints about 2pm on Friday as a passenger in a Bangkok taxi. No documents were checked, only temps for me and the driver.

Absolutely.  Bars and pubs should be shut for good (well except for the private bars that the Hiso, elite, and upper-crust academics frequent.  Special exemptions for special people!)

No sane western tourist will return until there's a vaccine or they can be assured they have already had the virus and have antibodies. I'd say a year or 18 months minimum before it picks up...

Back to your meetings 'Bill'.  Those should be shut too though.  Large numbers of people in close proximity drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes and all.  Perfect environment to pass pathogens.  Don't you think?

Many, many adults drink.  The those who vote won't forget.

He did say 'caution', not stop.  Caution will be sensible for many months to come.

'Additional' was also used!

Can you back that claim up with a link, thanks

Thailand population 70 million, CV deaths 43. Compare that to road accidents 30-40,000 EVERY year. I know which one i am most scared of.
