Current requirements for entering Thailand.

In regard to the two week quarantine , this makes no sense to me !

Sure, on arrival it would be wise to be sent to a quarantine / separate area from society, for a few days. If a covid test is then administered at the tourists own expense , why do they have to sit in a facility for two weeks if it proves to be negative?

Testing capacity will obviously be an issue but if tourism really is 20ish% of the economy it would be worth them

sorting? And I can’t imagine tourist numbers will be that high either with the prospect of Thai quarantine.

I’ve not been effected economically by covid and am willing to put up with restrictions but staying in quarantine for two weeks needs to be assessed as I believe it would put off 99% of travellers.

  • May is closed to international travellers except for Thai citizens in small batches.   Might be opened in June to certain low risk countries.   You will know whether Thailand opens

The incubation period is 14 days, so a test after day 4 might come back negative, whereas a test after 10 days might come back positive.

That is the reason for 14 day quarantine.

I was pretty shocked at ThaiPost's decision at the start of lockdown. It kind of felt like the end of civilisation.

That is due to Thai Post only using Thai Airways for mail going out of the country.

THAI Airways is already currently operating cargo only flights and they recently got CAAT approval to also carry cargo in the passenger compartments.

Bangkok Airways and Air Asia are already doing this but they only have short/medium range aircraft. I believe that THAI plan to operate long haul cargo flights this way using their A350 fleet.
