Popular Post webfact
Tipple down effect By The Nation Swarms of buyers thronged shopping malls on Sunday (May 3) to buy alcoholic drinks after weeks of denial. The ban on sale of alcoholic beverages to prevent the spread of Covid-19 ended on Sunday. However, bars and restaurants are barred from serving drinks. The beverages must be consumed at home only. Shopping mall employees were not quite prepared for the deluge of buyers and had a tough day filling the shelves. Popular Post steven100
They lifted the ban and then the small shop owners come and stock up as seen in the picture, one persons trolley with at least 6 cases of whiskey. It may have been a good idea to limit the amount small shops could buy .... Makro, Tesco & Big C were all flooded with buyers stocking up on wine, beer & spirits. 4

Popular Post Neilly
If it wasn't for the idiotic rule that you can only by booze between 11am & 2pm it probably wouldn't have been such a scrum down, yes I know you can buy after 5pm, but most normal people don't go shopping on a Sunday after 5pm!

Indeed, we entered Makro yesterday at 11.00, and the checkout queue was massive with those whose trollys were laden with alcohol, we instantly regretted the decision to go yesterday. It probably took us 40 mins to buy what we needed, including three boxes of wine, and by the time we'd got to the checkout there was no queue at all. I seem to recall that the idiotic selling hours didn't used to apply for those buying larger quantities from a wholesaler like Makro, but that was changed a few years ago to ensure that those stocking up their shops could only do so at certain times. 2
Forza2002
Judging by various reports there have been large queues at outlets for booze, so obviously plenty of Thais aren't hurting for cash, just yet!! True, and lets face it if rule is so school children dont buy it, why do they never have that problem in Vietnam etc? Its also very difficult to know the diffrence between a schoolgirl/boy and a 40-50+ year old Thai or farang 3
