If the Thai numbers were correct most other countries would see it as elimination given the population size of the country. 5

DrJack54
I think that my home state Victoria, Au also has strict rules. One is maximum gathering of 2. That includes your own home (excluding people that live there) This effectively means that you can't invite anyone over. The fines are heavy. I have been very critical of Thai gov in other threads re stupid alcohol ban. However not so about advice the police are giving in this report. It's the younger generation that these bans will hurt the most with no socializing.

Spot on, probably less than 0.5 % of the 70 million population tested so the figures released dont reflect the true extent of covid here, but are just a daily release of flatulence as in most government statements. If people have serious health problems then they should isolate with support and everyone else should be allowed to lead their lives as they wish. Couple of ways to look at that but I'm just saying. Maybe the concept of social responsibility might kick in.?? If it goes on too long will some end up living with contact through faeces book etc being the norm'?? A lot of things will change and most of those changes we are not aware of yet.

It appears he is saying “ do not have parties or gatherings at home, especially if you are consuming alcohol”. Just drink alone or with your family. Ok, that is my plan for today and tomorrow. Just bought some Australian wine and it will be a good day. I was about to say the same thing. Its sad that even in this crisis, THAIVISA continues with misleading and headlines ridiculing the very ppl who have the difficult job of dealing with this crisis. The police does NOT warn against drinking a beer with your friend or relative, that indeed would be absurd, they explicitely warn against having HOME PARTIES. Sad to see how the farang community in general is so unhelpful and negative in this crisis, and MOSTLY as always ridicule the Thai ppl. Safe to say when this crisis will be over in Thailand thanks to the Thai efforts and unity, it will still cause chaos and misery in western countries bc of mismanagement and selfish citizens. 2
prakhonchai nick
If I invite a couple of friends round to my home, and we sit and eat food that I prepared all sitting 2m, apart (much the same as if we were all in a restaurant) and I had a few beers (in my own home) but my friends didn't drink, would that be OK or fall foul of the law?

This is not about drinking, it is about social gatherings................................... in Thailand the two are often inextricably linked. Hopefully, you haven't got so many friends so as to make it a mass gathering that might attract the attention of the authorities. If in doubt just disguise it as a monk party. No one is asking the younger people to stay in doors, just to tone it down for a while, I have partied all of my life, what did I get out of it in the end. Being with friends in small groups is always more meaningful and enjoyable. There are other ways to let your hair down, besides if it wasn't for the older ones paving the way, the younger ones wouldn't be here today, but then again, that's the attitude that is expected from the younger, me, myself, I. mikebell
RTP have a lot of lost revenue to re-coup. Expect uninvited guests. I imagine that you are not a young man so letting in all and sundry to your cleaner than average home becomes more of a risk factor for you. The again, if you are the only one drinking copious amounts of whiskey it will probably kill off 99% of household germs. 1

Yes, it would be just like a restaurant if you are checking temperatures before allowing access, guests are using sanitizer, you as the host are wearing a mask/face shield, you are wiping down common surfaces regularly.
