On Monday, 689 Thais returning from abroad entered state quarantine while 680 others were allowed to go home, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said today (May 5).

Of the 12,395 Thais who were quarantined under state or local administration after returning from abroad, 3,302 had been allowed to go back home and 84 were found to be infected with Covid-19, he said.

Today, 16 Thais have returned from France and 220 from India.

Tomorrow, 65 will come back home from Myanmar, 110 from Germany and 122 from Pakistan.

Since April 4, 4,401 people have returned via plane from 26 countries and entered state quarantine.

From May 6-31, around 7,000 Thais are expected to touch down on home soil after returning from Pakistan, Myanmar, Germany, South Africa, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Japan, the Netherlands, Vietnam, Taiwan, and the United States.

Thais back to Thailand , English back to England , Americans back to the US , Germans back to Germany and so on ...

It looks like the new normal will be to stay in the country that issued your passport ... may be a few exceptions here and there ... but the end of mass tourism . Businesses related to that better find new occupations .

There is good and bad with that ... like it or not ... up to you ...

April 21, 2020: the rate for false negatives can run as high as 15%. Https://www.rhe-scientist.com/false-negatives-in-quick-covid- 19-test-near-15-percent-study-67451

So potentially up to 180 potential false negatives of people of which 3,302 are now returning to the general population.

The government needs to follow up with retesting a sample of the 3,302 to assure the accuracy of testing for covid-19.

0.7% is actually much higher than the national average. Will be interesting to see the fatality rate and age statistics if they ever become available.

they will never release that data until well after this is over, which it essentially is in Thailand with only 5 cases per 100,000, and 1 death per million, because that data will refute the impression that is being portrayed world wide that anyone who gets infected is likely to die. The facts are  that those hospitalized average 65+ years old, and those dying have an average age of 80, with 99% of them having a comorbidity such as hypertension, obesity, or diabetes.

If people really understood how unlikely it is that they would die, 80% of those infected are asymptomatic or have very mild short-lived symptoms, they would not be so easily cowed by the government to follow these scientifically unproven mitigation rules.
