Popular Post Jonathan Fairfield
Phuket airport ordered to remain closed – again Staff at Phuket International Airport mark out social distance separators earlier today (May 15). Photo: AoT Phuket PHUKET: The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) this afternoon (May 15) issued an order for Phuket International Airport to remain closed, waylaying its re-opening that was scheduled for midnight tonight. The CAAT only yesterday issued a notice allowing Phuket airport to re-open to limited domestic flights at 00:01am (May 16). However, CAAT Director Dr Chula Sukmanop said in the order issued today, “Although Phuket is able to effectively control and stop the spread of the COVID-19, the situation is still considered a risk that needs to be monitored continuously to ensure that measures stop the spread of the disease to other areas and prevent the disease from spreading again in the Phuket area.” Full story: https://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-airport-ordered-to-remain-closed-again-76070.php -- © Copyright Phuket News 2020-05-15 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

taxin
I’m very sceptical about the real truth in this, were the airlines behind this ? Not enough seats sold, therefore requested that the CAAT extend the closure ? Would be a very easy and convenient way out for them.. 1

Deli
Opening the airport without opening the bridge and Phang Nga and Krabi province wouldn't make a lot of sense and both are locked.

marvin1950
More people in Thailand every year get infected with Dengue Fever (8,147 three months in 2020) and die than from Covid-19. There is no vaccine for Dengue Fever. There is no lockdown for Dengue Fever. They do not close airports for Dengue Fever. Oh there is a 95% recovery rate so far from Covid-19 in Thailand. Thailand should worry more aboutroad deaths and under age kids riding motorbikes. Edited May 17, 2020 by marvin1950 additional

marvin1950
No, but if Thailand is concerned about the safety and well being of Thai people they should concentrate on the causes that contribute to most of the death of their people. Appx. 54 deaths Covid-19 95% recovery rate, appx 2800 infections 5,468 deaths road accidents. Close the airport for what People lose jobs No money Increases in the suicide rate. For what?
